Just after midnight on April 22, 2025, Otto “Richard” Weber took his last breath with his loving wife at his side. After ninety years of living his life to the fullest he leaves behind his wife (Donna), a daughter (Stephanie), a granddaughter (Ashley Jacobs in Florida), and a community that he loved. You may have seen his larger-than-life smile behind the register at the Redway Liquor Store. Or perhaps you heard his voice on KMUD while listening to his radio show every second Friday of the month. His passion was flying. His gift was the Art of Stained Glass. His joy was sharing his knowledge through good old-fashioned conversations. OH! And of course, The Grateful Dead. He is free now to soar with the eagles.A special heartfelt thank you goes out to the excellent staff, nurses, and doctors at the Adventis Health Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits, CA for their outstanding care during Richard’s last days. There will be a celebration of life at Beginnings in Briceland. Date and time to be announced.Richard was born on December 25, 1934, in Los Angelos, CA. As a young man he traveled to Hawaii to attend college, then he returned to southern California, where he lived for many years in the hills of Topanga Canyon honing his skills as a Stained-Glass artist. In 1994, he married Donna in Martinez, California, and together they made their way north to Southern Humboldt. There, he created countless stained-glass pieces-each one a testament to his skill as a master craftsman. He stayed connected to the flying community he loved, both through his radio show and his volunteer work with the Garberville Pilots Association. It is said he was solely responsible for every bottle of wine at the Briceland Winery-so much so, that they called for his help just a few days ago. With his passing goes an entire library of knowledge. So long to a great husband, father and dear friend to all who knew him.
