College of the Redwoods is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Alan Price as the college’s new Academic Dean of Science, Math, Climate, & Conservation, following Board of Trustees approval on May 6, 2025.

Dr. Price brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in higher education, most recently serving as Dean of Educational Programs at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC). There, he provided strategic oversight for 18 academic programs, managed more than 150 faculty and staff, and administered budgets exceeding $11 million. His tenure was marked by the development of several new Career Technical Education programs, including Data Analytics, Culinary Arts, and Construction Technology, which increased workforce readiness and enrollment by 20%.

A champion of student access, Dr. Price expanded dual enrollment programs for high school students and played a lead role in developing a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management. He also led SBCC’s return-to-campus plan for hands-on CTE programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m truly honored to join College of the Redwoods and be part of a community so deeply committed to student success and support,” says Dr. Price. “The college’s mission resonates with my own passion for creating meaningful educational opportunities and making a lasting impact in the lives of students and the communities we serve.”

Dr. Price holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Technology from Claremont Graduate University, a Master of Engineering from Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona.

“I am very pleased to have Dr. Price join the CR community,” says CR President Dr. Keith Flamer. “He cares deeply about providing high-quality education to all students and thinking creatively with an entrepreneurial spirit. His experience with academic programming will help propel CR forward.”
