Tomorrow marks a year since Myers Flat mother Zoe Penrod went missing from her riverside home, from her almost five month old son, fiancé Dave Boyett, and other loved ones.

Screenshot of News Nation’s report on Zoe Penrod’s disappearance

There have been no new officially released clues or developments since we last reported on Zoe’s disappearance. However, Zoe’s fiancé was recently featured in a News Nation special called “Missing with Marni Hughes,” where he details what he believes most likely happened to Zoe.

Dave Boyett said in the interview,

“[Zoe] was seen on a surveillance camera at a business in the area, wearing a light colored bathrobe, walking north on the Avenue of the Giants at about 8:30 on the morning she left. I think that somebody picked her up, and I think that in that state of mind, she would be easily coerced into a car. She’s cold, she’s hungry. She’s been out in the woods for, you know, all night long. It’s raining, it’s cold and miserable. So somebody could have coaxed her into the car pretty easily.”

Mental Health Matters

Before Zoe went missing, Dave said she had a handful of mental health episodes, two that landed her in the hospital. The first was in early December of 2023 at the Fortuna hospital, then next, in late December, she went to the Garberville Hospital, where she was first diagnosed with postpartum psychosis, a severe condition that happens to 1 in 1,000 mothers after they give birth.

As reported here previously, a week prior to Christmas, David said Zoe shared with him that she could hear voices calling her to go outside, including voices that mimicked his own as well as friends’. Her mental health spiraled, David claimed, until she stopped sleeping and eating, believing her food was poisoned.

On December 20th of 2023, eleven days before she went missing, Zoe was seen by locals walking the wrong direction up the Myers Flat offramp towards the 101 freeway. Some Myers Flat residents said they saw Dave try to convince her to get in their car. Dave explained when this was unsuccessful, he called the police who put her on a 5150 hold at the Garberville Hospital, which is essentially a three day mental health hold, for those who are deemed to pose a danger to themselves or others.

Boyett recounted the situation in correspondence with Redheaded Blackbelt, saying,

“The doctor reached out to me to ask me questions about Zoe when she was first evaluated… She was the person who first diagnosed Zoe with postpartum psychosis. We talked for about 40 minutes then she told me she was going to hold Zoe until they could find placement for her in a mental health facility that could accommodate her. Then two days after that, I received another call from another county mental health specialist telling me that he was going to release Zoe because she was seemingly fine. I asked what had changed in those last two days. They said sometimes people just need some rest and some food and they were going to release her either to me or on [her] own recognizance, so I had to go pick her up from Garberville and bring her home.”

Their roommate and nanny, who prefers to go by Jackie, explained, “When [Zoe] was in [the] Garberville Hospital …they said she was a handful and they gave her a lot of drugs like Thorazine and Mirtazapine…like nine shots.”

Jackie said she begged the hospital to reconsider Zoe’s release, but discovered, “The hospital…did not agree with that decision. They reached out to me and they said that once Humboldt County Mental Health releases the hold on someone, [hospitals] cannot legally hold them against their will.”

Jackie said on the day of her release on December 23, “She [came] back home …And [with] like no pills, no prescription, no nothing. They just sent her home with the list of what they shot her up with. And for two days she was normal, more than she was before she went in the hospital. But it took a few days and she went back slowly —and that’s where we lost her.”

Jackie said that Zoe officially stopped breastfeeding when she was released from the hospital the second time, specifically because of the medication they gave her and her concern for her son consuming it. After a mother stops breastfeeding, it is also a delicate time hormonally that can trigger or exacerbate postpartum psychosis.

The Day Zoe Went Missing

The last time Jackie said she saw Zoe was before Jackie went to bed around 2 a.m. on December 31, after Zoe had just been released from the Hospital eight days prior.

According to Dave at around 8 a.m. on December 31, all roommates were in bed, and Zoe was “not sleeping… [She was] pacing…[and] sprinkling holy water” on him as he was trying to sleep.

Dave said he woke up and begged her to come inside and go to bed, and the last thing she said to him was, “I love you…bless you.”

Zoe insisted on sitting outside their RV in the yard Dave said, and when their son began crying he went inside to change his diaper. When Dave returned to Zoe, he said she had vanished.

Dave told News Nation he walked around the neighborhood looking for Zoe. He also claimed he was told he could not report her missing until 24 hours later, saying, “We called and they said it’s not a missing person unless they’ve been gone for 24 hours.”

According to Lt. Joshua McCall this is not a policy for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, but a misunderstanding people sometimes have.

Jackie said she never witnessed or heard of Dave calling police until January 1, after she insisted he do so.

Jackie wrote, “At 9:00 am we woke up, the day after I ask Dave if he report[ed] her [missing], he said he will do it, but I insisted for him to do it right then.”

Jackie said the trailer was upended that morning when she woke up around 9 a.m. to first find Zoe gone. She said Dave had been searching the trailer for some drug which had gone missing the same morning Zoe disappeared. Dave allegedly found the missing drug the following day.

Jackie also said some other details got left out of the story previously, including that the same day Zoe was released from Garberville Hospital on December 23, a woman named Jerri Rebekah Cardelli  was released from jail to the other man who lived on the property.

Jackie said, “[Cardelli] had an ankle bracelet on.” Cardelli as well as four other adults were there that night, along with Zoe and Dave’s son.

The day Zoe went missing and thereafter, Jackie said she searched for Zoe in the forest, along the river bar, up and down the freeway, while reaching out to news agencies, printing fliers, and asking neighbors and community members in person and on Facebook if they had any clues, but she came up empty handed.

She claims that initially Dave did not search for Zoe and he insisted she would come back on New Year’s Eve night.

Jackie explained, “Dave hardly ever looked for Zoe. Even when it was dark [on New Year’s Eve] I kept telling the guys to help search for Zoe… I kept driving around searching for her…I haven’t stopped looking for her…I’m still looking for her.”

Jackie made a post on a Southern Humboldt Facebook group page to ask for advice from the community before she went to bed sometime in the early morning of January 1, when Zoe had not turned up.

Not originally from the United States, Jackie said she was unsure what to do exactly in the situation. But she said she was increasingly concerned about Zoe having a mental health issue alone in the elements, and realized time was of the essence to get her back home. In hindsight she said she regrets not calling the police immediately.

However, Jackie said she felt the police didn’t do a very thorough investigation of the property, nor did police ever interview her, despite her being at the search party and living with Zoe at the time. She said the police stopped by and spoke to another man staying on the property for about 10-15 minutes, but Dave wasn’t there. Jackie said she was not sure if the police had ever interviewed Dave beyond a few calls and their conversation at the search party.

We asked Humboldt County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Joshua McCall in an interview January 10, if there was a thorough search of Zoe’s property and residence.

He responded,

“Deputies have been to the property, that’s definitely a standard procedure to do a thorough search …a lot of times that [the missing person is]  hiding, especially with kids …they’ll be hiding around the residence and parents understandably get frantic and then they’ll miss [their kids]… So a lot of times that’s where we start.”

Lt. McCall said he did not have exact details on the extent of the search itself, but confirmed deputies “had been there multiple times.”

Community Initiated Search

Dave Boyett similarly told News Nation,

“Nothing happened initially [with the investigation]. It was actually a group of volunteers that came together from the community that ramped up a little search party [on January 8]… days after she had gone missing. And then law enforcement sort of took their cues from that. It was 8 days before they did a one mile perimeter search with the actual police.”

Benbow mother, Misty Carrico, organized the first official search party that day, alongside approximately 30 emergency service workers and other volunteers.

Carrico was inspired to help find the missing mother in part due to her own search and rescue experience after her two young daughters got lost in the forest for 44 hours. Carrico initially made a call to the community for help on a Facebook post in the group “Hey Garberville. What’s Going On?.

As reported here previously,

“Carrico explained she made the post because she was concerned that the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department “did an initial search for Zoe, but nothing more.” This brought up memories for Carrico from her daughter’s search efforts which ended, she explained, “Because of volunteers, not the Sheriff’s Department.”

During the search party Carrico said, “I don’t know these people… I’ve never even met [Zoe] but I’m a mother, it’s cold, and she deserves to be found.”

The HCSO came to assist that day and while there, interviewed Dave in person, and others who might have information regarding Zoe’s whereabouts.

The last verified public sighting of Zoe was captured on surveillance footage at a local business. She was seen wearing a blue bathrobe, walking northbound on the Avenue of the Giants. The photo was discovered by, and released to the HCSO nine days after she went missing, from a business a couple hundred feet from her home.

Lt. McCall was unable to confirm where she began walking from that morning, or the exact time, just that the screenshot of her was captured “just before 8:30 am” on December 31 2023.

Lt. McCall said Zoe was last seen traveling northbound, and added, “We got the footage …that clearly showed the direction of travel and that she was on foot…that helped …we felt it gave us enough to at least warrant initiating a more thorough …and intensely directed search of that area.”

Lt. McCall did not see the surveillance footage himself he explained, “only still photos,” but he said he spoke with the deputy who did watch the footage and noted the video showed someone who was confirmed to be Zoe, and, “Disoriented and not of a clear mind.”

Lt. McCall explained, “We were given information that she was fond of the water and that drove us to …put that in a higher probability area, which resulted in checking not only surveillance footage around the area to try to get an idea of how she may have left.”

Over the next few days there was an extensive water, air and land search effort around the Eel River and the Avenue of the Giants, but no more leads were found.

The only other possible sighting of Zoe was about 24 hours after the surveillance footage, on January 1 around 8:20 a.m., by a local man who wishes to remain anonymous. He said he saw Zoe wandering northbound near the guardrail on the 101 freeway, north of the Myers Flat southbound off ramp.

I don’t remember what she was wearing …  I got a pretty good look at her face, I’m sure it was her,” he explained.

At the search party alongside deputies and volunteers, he detailed that he was not aware Zoe was missing when he drove past her, and called the HCSO when he heard the news the next day, January 2. He added, “She was [reported] missing the next day so I called [the Sheriff’s Department] up right away, but they didn’t ask me any follow up questions…they just kind of shrugged me off.”

We verified that his phone showed a call to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department at the time he claimed making it.

Lt. McCall encouraged him to reach back out to the HCSO and said it’s possible he may have been transferred to CHP by mistake.

Zoe’s Legal Tensions

As reported on News Nation,

“Zoe wasn’t just battling an illness when she went missing. She and David were involved in a lengthy legal dispute with her adopted mother… They were quarreling over Zoe and her Sister’s…inheritance of some property of her grandmother’s.”

Dave said that Zoe had just received a larger payout after the lawsuit was filed against her adopted mother over a property dispute regarding a home down Boy Scout Rd. in Myers Flat, where Dave and Zoe previously lived.

Photo of the first page of the lawsuit filed September 2022, after the eviction in December 2021

Photo of the first page of the lawsuit filed September 2022, after the eviction in December 2021

According to Zoe in Facebook messages to her adopted mother Karen Penrod and her realtor that are attached to the lawsuit filing, she said her grandmother intended for her to have the Myers Flat property and home in question. Karen managed the property however, and expressed being displeased with the status of property repairs the couple agreed to do. So she evicted them and the house was sold. Zoe and Dave, then relocated down the road to the property where she went missing.

We have not been able to reach Karen Penrod. According to a Myers Flat resident who knows the Penrod family, Karen is refusing to engage with any media citing concern for Zoe’s children’s emotional wellbeing. Zoe has two other children from previous relationships that she was not the primary caregiver of at the time she went missing.

Dave continues to make public allegations about Zoe’s sister and adopted mother, using Zoe’s phone to access her Facebook account.

Photo of the first page of the lawsuit filed September 2022, after the eviction in December 2021

Screenshot of Zoe’s Trust for her inheritance

Dave explained that Zoe also had a multimillion dollar inheritance which he knew she could access through her phone. In January 2024, Dave said during his interview with News Nation,

The day after …we reported her missing, [Zoes] …biological sister who’s the other recipient of Zoe’s trust…turned off Zoe’s funds…I don’t understand what her reasoning was, it was set up for a small amount to be deposited every month to take care of our son and pay for living expenses. And I was— I’ve been quite upset about that ordeal, how I had to move from our home. So she has no home to find her way back to at this point in time. I took my son and I had him come out to Arizona with my family. That’s where I’m currently residing because… I needed help.”

Dave sent their young son to Arizona to live with his parents in early January, just before the community lead search party. Dave eventually joined him about a month later.

Jackie relocated from the property a couple weeks after Zoe went missing.

Another land mate stayed on the property after Dave left for a few months, but has since relocated.

The RV Zoe once lived in has since been removed in addition to another RV and trailers that were once there, and some sort of green tanks.

Lt. McCall confirmed that when Zoe went missing she did not take her wallet or cell phone, those items were left at her residence. Dave has had her phone since she went missing and still occasionally posts on Zoe’s Facebook page

Jackie explained that there was a living room interior and exterior ring camera at Zoe’s house and gate which should have shown the direction she walked, and what happened, and the footage was connected to her cell phone. To our knowledge, this has not been confirmed.

woman with long, curly-ish hair with a baby in a front pack standing in a wooded area smiling for the cameraUnanswered Questions

The mystery of what happened to Zoe Penrod continues to haunt not only those those who knew and loved her but many in the rural communities of Humboldt county. So many questions are unanswered. Did Zoe vanish in the forest? Could she have caught a ride with someone amidst a mental health crisis and left the area never to be seen again? Could there have been foul play? Did Zoe have postpartum psychosis or depression possibly due to weaning abruptly, and/or could she have been impaired some other way? Could her disappearance be related to her multi million dollar inheritance?

Law Olmsted, a private investigator featured in the News Nation report said, “After a year…the likelihood of finding her at this point is just not looking good. And I’m very concerned for her.”

Olmsted said,

“Any kind of communication from her home, from her boyfriend David, indicating that she may have had another episode …would require a response from police. And I’m sure they acted responsibly and got out as quickly as they could. Everything that they’ve done so far as far as Humboldt County sheriff’s go, they’ve done everything that they could and that I would expect them to do. But not finding her at this point, like I said, is very concerning. And the questions come back to the house. What was going on at the house when she left? Did she leave or get taken somewhere by someone? There’s so much, so many questions.”

Lastly Olmsted encourages Zoe’s loved ones to “stay in constant contact with the law enforcement agency …[and] to speak to as many media outlets as possible.”

A longtime and close friend of Zoe’s from out East, who prefers to go by Holly, wrote to RHBB,

“I would love to tell the world that Zoe was a beautiful soul, full of light, love, and life, she lit up every room she walked into, and the fact that there’s been no leads or answers to her disappearance is tragic and heartbreaking. As a RN of 13 years, I feel that the medical and mental health system failed her, for dismissing her condition, and not giving her any medication to take after discharge. The behaviors that she was said to be exhibiting at the time of her disappearance are extremely out of character for her.”

Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding Zoe’s possible whereabouts should call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251.

Special thanks to KMUD reporter Kelly Lincoln for collaborating on our report.

Postpartum psychosis is no joke. Women have suffered many horrible events during these types of situations. Until we recognize, respond and deliver Mental Health Services for postpartum women we are failing society. The shoot em up with drugs and let em go is a joke. Society is fighting a battle against ignorance and gaslighting in the mental health arena. The inheritance funds should be frozen. Neary and team had dollar signs in their eyes certainly. Tragic. The last sighting near the on ramp, a search needs to be conducted in that area if it has not. It was January cold, raining, when she wandered off in a bathrobe. Godspeed Zoe.

Absolutely. Had her husband and LE searched earlier (community did great just weren’t not aware soon enough nor aware LE and Zoe’s family and friends were not on it) her foot prints in mud would have still been there…to have all that camera footage and then nothing is due to lack of rapid and thorough response by everyone but Jackie.

Another victim of Humboldt County Mental Health Department – lifting the 5150 hold and discharging her without meds was free – placing her in a MH hospital would have cost money.

The tangled threads of their personal lives no doubt played into Zoe’s state of mind at the time she walked away but don’t explain her disappearance.

The likeliest explanation is someone picked her up and drove her out of the area never to be seen again.

The tragedy is compounded by never really knowing what happened – and how do you explain any of this to her son?

You tell a truth for sure. Also part of the reality is drugging, including forced drugging and over drugging of people not a danger to themselves or others along with slapping 5150s on people who shouldn’t be having that done to them. Without enough community supports there is not option but the revolving door of medicate, confine and then send away into the night, figuratively and literally. The system is underfunded and under participated in by community including participating enough to ensure institutions that have such power over people have transparency and accountability and that vulnerable folks have independent entities to contact (even if they are psychotic which doesn’t usually require extensive expertise to recognize). Just because a person is complaint and submissive doesn’t mean they are better nor that the meds were appropriate. Like the mental institutions that were shut down with out transparency new institutions also don’t help or do make worse people with ordinary treatable conditons who could have returned to be productive in community no matter we dont’ stone people now for port partem depression or leprosy or whatever. Many not suffering from anything other than chronic overwhelming stress are confined and drugged and left to decompensate further (as would someone turned away at an ER who has a compound fracture or other physical but treatable malady) on the streets, or decent in living conditions but solitary confinement type isolation or in funky living conditions like many on the property of this woman were enduring including her child with only other struggling perhaps broken folk to turn to for help. “Healthier” people dont’ want to be bothered but eventually the broken system will be affecting enough people that the healthier won’t be able to endulge in their past times and such and then maybe real change will happen?

It’s not the first time I have heard that the police are less then helpful. The police are the only people being paid to look.and the first people to leave. So hum has a substation, not the biggest office. But still, that hunter that went missing out by covelo. Heard the same thing, police helped for a hour or two. I have got the same treatment. They want to dismiss everything, so they can go screw off. And try to hire some responsible adults, who the hell is hiring these guys.

Unfortunately the old “Boy” network keeps better folk away if they have a choice and quiet if they haen’t a choice. I knew someone local who passed the academy with flying colors and is an excellent person and they decided that given even in training the problems with the department were already obvious and systemic that they weren’t going to join the force; if i knew them better I’d have asked them to speak up and out if they could. Community ought to give protections to whistle blowers..doesn’t mean one has to believe everything they say and proof still needed and at least more people would be able to speak up cause without resources and protection speaking up will make vulnerable people more scapegoats than perhaps they already are. The person who leaked the texts about EPD stayed anonymous for a reason..though i heard through grapevine at least they are still alive which i was worried they might not have been. Also bootlicking folk who fawn over LE and funnel their own frustrations in life onto scapegoats and vicariously through letting police do their dirty work tend to get retaliatory if LE behavior even questioned.

This is a prime example of our good ole boy system. Good ole boys are not the smartest. How many times has a city pronounced its police to be heros, like Kevin Christie, who has been on the police force since the 80s. I don’t trust police or supervisors that hire rapists. And I’m tired of your half assed good ole boy government.

Its only going to get worse with the new administration. Hellish already for the most vulnerable. People get tired and then after enough pain and trapped people get angry and hopefully busy ..may take much for of the latter for any of this old boy stuff which many a girl has joined up with in LE, to change. A cop saved my life when i was a child and rescued me from bad people in my own family. I lived in poor neighborhoods and still hadn’t witnessed the stuff i now know was going on back then too but i was isolated more than many. I also later in life was horrified at the cell phone footage though glad it was shoving a mirror in our collective faces about what people go through. Then in late 50s i became horrified after what i already described “Briefly” in another comment here. What happened to a friend and what i weirdly also witnessed around the same time while walking my dog around Eureka happening to vulnerable women broke all trust i had in LE or County Mental Health…they both create mental injury where there was none before; sick opportunists in a community that doesn’t insist on better social infrastructure. In addition to angry and involved public there has to be more insiders who are protected and speak out and provide proof like the person who leaked the texts EPD were sending each other and no those texts were not simply dark humor to deal with the stresses of the job but were sick as F and hostile and creepy.

The article and your comments confirm a sketchy home environment that probably contributed to the missing person’s state of mind but don’t excuse the criminal negligence of Humboldt Co. MH or explain what happened to her after she walked away from her home.

Let’s agree the cops are never gonna get it right according to you – but in this case the main hinderance was the bf not reporting her missing immediately – but even then it may have been too late as she may have already been picked up by a passing car and left the area.

Maybe it’s because private persons doing searches do not get a search warrant that police need because private property owners have right from unreasonable searches? If the police get involved, then the people doing the searches become officials. On public lands is one thing. On private property is another.

Was this woman a drug addict? If yes, did she have a history of psychotic episodes that involved calling the CHP?
If that is the case, this could explain why CHP showed little interest in investigating her disappearance.

Per the article, the woman had had 2 kids, whom she was not raising. Having a 3rd child, did not suddenly make her a responsible mother. It just means she gave birth for the 3rd time & likely someone else was going to raise her child.

I hope they find her remains to give closure to her kids. Poor things.

Postpartum is no joke. It’s not something you can really see coming, only deal with it when it does. It will take otherwise normal people and just flip them mentally. A year later. But as I read this thing, it sure does seem that D. took his sweet time joining in on searches and being at the front of helping investigations. I’m with others that have mentioned she could have been picked up and is nowhere near Humboldt, but I’m not part of the hunt.

Ketamine is non-addictive!
Ketamine is a healing and therapeutic drug!
Ketamine is good!
Yeah I call bullshit on all that druggie chatter. There’s a place in Arcata that legally hands out ketamine. Yay! It’s a healing medicine sure and so is my ass. The old North Country Clinic will hook you up with some Vitamin K. ..Just say ” I have trauma”. that’s the password

Ketamine? No, it’s used in humans. It does have legitimate medical use.
Ketamine is used as an anesthetic for surgery, a treatment for depression, and is a drug of abuse. Ketamine is FDA-approved as an anesthetic to put you to sleep for surgery and to help prevent pain and discomfort. Ketamine for depression is an off-label use, and its use for depression is currently being researched in clinical trials. It is also a drug of abuse that is used illegally recreationally for its hallucinogenic properties and is known to be a “date rape” drug as it causes short-term memory loss.”
Anybody that says that it’s not addicting or have potential to is lying. And not a licensed pharmacist or pharmacy to get it from (lots of mail-order I hear).

I’ve seen the kids doing the K and it makes them very weird, very weird scenes similar to meth-induced situations, broken logic and insanity, dysfunctional and dirty…no it’s not cool my rainbow tribe

Actually he was treating her with disrespect in a time where she was need him ! He also try to put a move on me 6 days after she was missing , move I dismiss and that cause him to turn against me and try to make look like the cause of all that ! I can garanti you , I did everything I could for help Zoe ,I don’t know really why all of sudden she start losing her mind but she was convince she was about to die or her son was in danger !! You turn out to be the same type of guys she was running away from ! You was having a plan , I just don’t know how premeditated you were but I know one thing , justice will be serve and I’m not staying in the dark anymore ! I love zoe with all my heart and even you say you love her , I don’t believe you ! No one who lost his true love will have been able to live like you do ! Again you never look for her , and that in itself it fuck top ! Your a fuck top person Dave and we all see you now for who you are ! More lies you put out here more deep you dig your hole ! Why would he want her gone when she is inheriting all that money? I’m not saying he’s a good or a bad person. I’m just confused. Why would he not help try to find her? At least until he had access to the money? It doesn’t make sense.

Did dave have a job to support his family, does he have a job now? Did dave find his drugs that night Zoe disappeared? I sure hope he found his drugs, crack me up. Did dave think the money would keep coming in after Zoe disappeared? For sure. Get a job dave

According to Jackie’s comment, Zoe was realizing that Dave wasn’t who she thought he was. Maybe she was planning on leaving him. They weren’t married. He would get nothing. I imagine that would make him angry.

I’m not saying that’s what happened, but it’s one way to look at it that would make sense, based on what her close friend is saying.

I am blown away they’re just not investigating this more. I have heard him hitting on other women including journalist, after her disappearance. That doesn’t make me feel like he care about her at all. I pray she gets justice.

So, the chance of some murderer happening upon her in her time of mentally ill wandering is pretty small.
The chance of suicide is pretty small, considering that most suicides are discovered at some point. The possibility of suicide in the river and being not discovered is not out of the question.
I would have to say, unless the partner has an air tight alibi he is without doubt the most likely suspect and with all the weird drug stuff, and the other people involved not standing by him, he is very suspect. Add in the inheritance and the stress involved in a new baby.

I really have to point out if she thought she was poisoned she probably was. The no 1 poisen used is arsenic. It causes mental health issues.halucinations, hypertension, confusion, wandering around in your bathrobe . When you find her body tast her hair or fingernails. Poiseni g is the most unobserved form of murder. Only a 40 percent chance of being solved.

no one hired the PI. He was a consult on the tv show. but when i watched the show, he clearly had only had a very recent and short briefing on the case. maybe only from listening to Dave while they got his, the PI’s, audio straightened out.

The family in question was a neighbor, she was afraid she was being drugged. There was a mad search for some missing meds? the morning she disappeared. But the hospital didn’t send her home with meds.
If she was trying to leave her boyfriend and she just inherited money there are many keys in my opinion. She may not have actually had post pardom psychosis she could have been put into that state by someone else and that person may have been waiting for an opportunity. The river is so high in January always. It is so sad.and very suspicious.

I can see why with the little one and nursing. The nursing is the flaw in poisening was she? Or was she bottle feeding? And to all law enforcement I get mad because I have a ged. And a forty year pot habit, and feel like I’m walking circles around you at times. I found out my grandpa had a minimum iq of 125. So it stands to reason my damb ass got a couple of brain cells.

One last thing the native Americans have a group the mmia. That does searches for missing people. Local history is rough to say the least between early prospectors “setellers” “and the natives. But they would love our help looking, and could maybe help.

The one thing that Jackie left out in that whole story is that she originally went crazy when she took her up to the casino. Fed her and illicit drug that I don’t want to talk about was not ketamin. And I am the other unnamed man that was there on the property. Everybody knows who I am but after reading Jackie’s comment implicating Dave my number is available. I spent the last week that I was there trying to give information to the sheriff. To no avail I reached out to Kim Kemp and I did everything in my power to try to share the information that was given after the show was aired just sit here and listen to someone trying to accuse Dave that is a gypsy a liar and a drug dealer and I’m not going to be silent about it so please if you have any brain cells in your head discount what the Gypsy liar [edit] named Jackie has to say. We don’t know what happened to her but Dave’s not responsible and anybody that thinks so it’s got their head up their ass [edit] contact me if you like

I can only attach one picture apparently I may attach more in different comments I suppose but this is the information that I got from two people to watch the news Nation episodes that Dave went and put up trying to find his wife this is the information that I tried quite a few times before I had to leave to get an officer to come speak to me this is the map that I went there and I can’t cross cuz it’s the Summer bridge and obviously we all hope that there’s nothing there but it’s at least information that we have to go on with provided by a psychic and a clairvoyant person. At least allegedly have other pictures to show the person’s name who did it obviously one’s got to wonder how and why but why not go check the freaking spot and then sheriff’s department Humboldt county should have no credit because they have done nothing but turn their shoulders and I’ll suspect more than or almost every family that has lost somebody and they’re too busy doing other things that are not as important which is why they’re such a high amount of people missing cuz they don’t give a s***.

And specifically for you Kim Kemp you have at least two voicemails and two emails that I contacted you regarding this matter so it is what it is. I’m disturbed the comments of somebody that is one sided for our own agenda the Gypsy ought to tell you most of what you need to know not me and I’m not scared to be me and I’m the only one well maybe not the only one but the only one that I said in that town that she’s still alive must be but who knows if I had to finances or falling so called people that were trying to help we’re actually helping maybe we’d have better information but as far as the sheriff goes they better go f****** check the spot is drawn on that map by two people they’re much more clairvoyant hopefully not fakes but it’s worth a shot so go do it my last four digits and 7026 I can’t figure out the first then don’t call me

Hmm .
Letter from step mom sounds pretty vicious IMO especially considering the last sentence.
Makes ya wonder if she was using that kind of terminology describing her intended actions legally, what she could be capable of, in a physical sense, most definitely with those kind of financial abilities. I find it a bit perturbing that she had the audacity to proclaim she had no trouble or moral qualms in using ALL of her own money ALONG WITH JESSE’S to make Zoe legally and or financially deceased and I truly don’t know now how to feel. At first I did think the bf was definitely involved but I am a little taken aback and these statements are strong enough to raise suspicion and shouldn’t at all be overlooked.

Here’s the letter she received, and is available publicly on her Facebook page and it appears that it was posted with what seems like a legitimately upset lazy lamo of a boyfriend, I went thinking I was going to leave with a better understanding of where he stands in all of this but it was the opposite of what I expected honestly.

Oct.2, 2023

Zoe,

Attached are the reasons why you should stop all appeals. As you will read, you forfeited your inheritance when you “contested” the trust while employing Jennifer O’Brien. She stated in open court that Zoe and Dave “has the Trustee’s permission to pursue an elder abuse claim.” Ashley violated her duty as a Trustee. You also contested the Trust when you sued for the property, 600 Boy Scout Camp Road. As the court’s ruled, you were never entitled to actual property. You lost every cause of action. I did not sue you for my legal fees as the judge authorized.

Because of that ruling, I decided not to interfere with your inheritance.

If you file another court appeal towards me or Ron Walton, I will start legal proceeding to prove you contested. Everything that is attached has already been filed in court. Your new attorney will lose his license, so trusting and believing him is your decision. You lost Jesse when you subpoenaed her. I told her I would not and I did not involve her. When you lose your inheritance, your money will go to charities, not Jesse.

You have until Nov 1 to completely stop all legal proceedings against myself or Ron Walton.

You can text Jesse a yes or no. “Yes” meaning you are finished with all legal proceedings regarding this case. If it’s “No”, I will sue for all my previous and future court costs and legal fees adding my costs to Ron’s $82,500.00 that you owe him.

I will spend all my money and also Jesse’s’ to get you removed as a trust beneficiary. That’s what Polly requested. You will be legally dead. If you do not respond to Jesse, then removal of you as a beneficiary will be initiated.

As far as those close to Zoe the only person that sounds at all trustworthy, including among the LE, is Julie and perhaps the mom or whomever is hopefully actually taking care of Zoe’s children. Perhaps an immigrant who is forced to live in such conditions and unlike many spoiled Americans Jackie still has “Old World” empathy and integrity. So damned upsetting couldn’t read past “Unanswered questions”; I have a few though: Why the hell was her phone not in investigators’ possession? “We’ve been there on numerous occasions” iS NOT an investigation and not being familiar with details the officer/sherrif said? Why not? Get familiar and get back with the reporter/public at least with enough to help try to solve this. Oh and bring up how missing children act is totally irrelevant to the very specific question and case at hand..WTF?
Our species really sucks sometimes. The community and Jackie that rallied around this are the only antedote to the bad behavior of individuals. We need independent citizen review boards (made up of such community members who rallied in this case) for LE that folks serve on, picked like jury duty but for serving a year or so and some professionals too who serve in intervals on the board also and maybe are voted into their positions. There needs to be more proactive preventions and also transparency and accountability for retroactive corrections when LE drop the ball or never pick it up in the first place.
Thank goodness for cameras or it would be easy to be more suspecting of the husband who went from living off of Zoe’s family to going back to his own for help? Chronically dependent type? Certainly clear he didn’t do much to help find her even if he isn’t involved in her disappearance.
LE treat the poor and especially women horribly in this County and i was shocked to see it over and over and not till i was elderly and just happen to be walking my dog around a Eureka neighborhood and also something happened to an elderly woman friend of mine that was mind blowing and broke a very strong woman, never met a more hardworking kind person, who had endured more than most and who had never succumbed, no matter a childhood most people wouldn’t even want to hear about, to drugs, crime nor having children she didn’t take care of.
Was the missing woman a “spoiled” (called that cause it is damaging though more comfortably so, with distracting and addicting perks often than the also damaged chronically uncared for not spoiled folk) trust fund child who partied too hard and kept having babies like they were dolls that she didn’t care for once they got older? Maybe AND this needs investigated. For all we know it was a LE officer who snatched her. Even if she drowned in the river if LE and those close to her would have helped Jackie sooner then foot prints or whatever might have been found, clothing..something.

i am not convinced the picture of the woman in the bathrobe is Zoe. Might be her. But it also could be how many other women? Did she own a blue robe?
Your questions are excellent btw.

We as a community turn a blind eye to health care and social support infrastructure and this is what we end up with. The over medicate approach is practiced at Semperviorns as a first resort on folks even those not a danger to themselves nor others ..not even swearing or yelling nor acting psychotic and they release quickly and dont’ check up on people later. Some HMO’s (not Kaiser in my experience in Bay Area) and insurance companies loved the mental heath strategy of medicate into a stupor then release and forget cause it is fast and cheap..until it isn’t and our streets keep overflowing and jails too and children loose the adults they depend on and the cycle just grows exponentially. Also Regan lowered taxes in the short run by closing institutions with not first building in an infrastructure with more community based personal care for mental health and proactive social supports. Some rich folk with lower taxes can afford to hoard wealth though and get butt implants so i guess it was worth it? Dont’ get me started.
Had her husband and LE searched earlier (community did great just weren’t not aware soon enough nor aware LE and Zoe’s family and friends were not on it) her foot prints in mud would have still been there…maybe be she drowned in the river but quick alerting would have given more clues to if her foot prints stopped at the road or went of road and were not accompanied by others’ prints. To have all that camera footage and then nothing is due to lack of rapid and thorough response by everyone but Jackie.
We have to give LE less power more transparency and accountability and also not leave them with ever single thing we as a community don’t take care of: mental health, homelessness, animal abuse and elder abuse and child abuse and on and on and on. I thought the movie One Flew Over the Coco’s Nest was hyperbole when i saw it when young. Now i think it was a Disney version of what our County Mental Health is, especially those at the top at Sempervirons and also those imbedded with LE (not saying all and the ones that work at the jail or Sempervirons are though those “Mental health” professionals who work at the jail are not even really part of the county but independently contracted or some such thing so even less accountability and transparency). Last i checked the only public allowed into to visit and see jail conditions are priests …citizens in mass might do well to get ordained and be all up in LE’s and also the County’s business. LE shouldn’t have anything to do with mental health what so ever and yet the new fat police station and jail being built right along Eureka’s “Beautiful” corridor our tourist dollars are affected by is going to have mental health embedded; that is so so so dangerous and sick and need for proximity is a BS excuse for building them in together. Makes one wonder had LE gotten to the woman on the water tower before cameras if the mental heath team would have been called at all; if that woman gets decent care it will only be because of those who know and care about her and maybe due to media (though without personal protective factors the opportunists and preditors may also be alerted).

I hope they find this beautiful mom!! Sorry to be a negative Nancy but it is usually someone close to the person that has the most to gain! Was there a death benefit? It is possible but a mom usually doesn’t leave her baby and just disappear…even if she has mental health issues. Hate to say it but too many times it is the partner, a close friend or a family member that was involved! This situation is very sad!
