Press release from Main Stage Humboldt:

Audiences are invited to experience one of the world’s most beloved musicals when Main Stage Humboldt presents Annie for a limited engagement July 10–12 at the Arkley Center for the Performing Arts in Eureka.

This is not the same children’s theater production that Main Stage produced in the spring—it is the full, classic Broadway musical featuring an exceptional blend of local performers and nationally recognized talent.

Leading the cast is Krista Curry, who recently toured with the National Broadway production of Annie in the role of Lily St. Regis. In Main Stage Humboldt’s production, Curry takes on the iconic role of Miss Hannigan.

Also appearing is Curry’s husband, Erik Gratton, an accomplished stage performer best known for playing Buddy the Elf in Elf at Madison Square Garden.

Joining the cast is local youth performer Berkeley Waluk, who is taking a brief break from the National Broadway tour of The Sound of Music to portray Molly in Annie.

The production is directed by Crystin Gilmore, whose extensive professional theater experience on the East Coast brings high-level artistry and expertise to the Humboldt stage.

Another audience favorite is sure to be Stella, a real dog cast as Sandy. Stella has been training with Ben Gordon of Humboldt Dog Training alongside the production’s two young stars, Adeline Pierce and Clara Ross, who share the title role of Annie. Their rehearsal time together has created a heartwarming partnership that brings the beloved friendship between Annie and Sandy to life.

The production also features several other professional performers from outside the region alongside a large cast of talented local youth portraying Annie’s fellow orphans. The young cast members have been rehearsing since March, dedicating months of hard work to bringing this classic musical to the stage. “This production brings together an extraordinary mix of Humboldt talent and performers with significant Broadway and national touring experience,” said the production team. “It’s a rare opportunity for local young actors to work alongside seasoned professionals, and for North Coast audiences to experience a production of this caliber without leaving the region.”

Performances will take place Friday, July 10, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, July 11, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, July 12, at 2 p.m. at the Arkley Center for the Performing Arts in Eureka. Because of the show’s limited run, audiences are encouraged to purchase tickets early. Ticket sales help support professional-quality live theater in Humboldt County.

Tickets are available at mainstagehumboldt.org.
