Eureka’s Cafe Artistes Seeks Community Support to Open First Permanent Location

A gathering place for artists, musicians, and performers in Eureka is asking the community for help as it works toward opening its first permanent home.

Cafe Artistes launched as a mobile café about a year ago, the latest step in a vision that founders Elaine Leon and Ami Campbell say began roughly a decade ago: creating a space where artists, performers, and neighbors could come together over coffee and creativity.

According to a GoFundMe started by Campbell, the café now has the chance to move into a brick-and-mortar space, which would let it stay open through the winter months and host more evening performances, art shows, and community gatherings.

“We wanted to create a home for creativity and community,” the founders wrote in their campaign description.

The fundraiser is intended to cover moving costs, deposits, and other setup expenses tied to opening the new location. As of July 1st, the campaign has raised $1,515 toward its goal from 23 donors.
