[UPDATE 1:51 p.m.: Good Progress] Fire Near Humboldt-Trinity County Line Broke Out Late This Morning

A fire, now known as the Berry Fire, was discovered late this morning near the Humboldt-Trinity County line, east of Dinsmore. The blaze was reported at 11:22 a.m., and firefighting crews are actively responding to the incident.
Power lines are down inside the fire’s perimeter and firefighters are cautioned to be alert.
Copter 914 has been deployed to the scene and Air Attack 120 is circling the fire as it coordinates aerial operations. Ground units, including dozers, have also been dispatched to assist in containing the fire’s spread.
The fire’s current size and containment efforts are still being assessed. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
UPDATE 1:51 p.m.: According to our sister news site, KMUD, the Berry Fire is estimated to cover 1 to 2 acres. Firefighters are making good progress, according to Ian Chadwick of the National Forest Service, who reported that crews are laying hoses around the perimeter and have started mop-up operations. Assisting Cal Fire aircraft have been released, and since the fire is on private land, Cal Fire is expected to take over command.
