Press release from Indivisible Trinidad:

About 25 members of Indivisible Trinidad turned out Saturday for the usual weekly protest against Trump administration actions and policies, waving at what appeared an even more supportive stream of honking and waving motorists who drove by on Main Street on the 4th of July.

As always, longtime Main Street resident Barbara Snell, 95, led the effort to be “positive and patriotic” on Independence Day. For Barbara, that meant turning bher normally inverted American flag right-side-up for the day, both on the street and the two flags on her porch. As an expression of her concern about the country’s direction and policies, Barbara’s flags usual fly upside-down, an accepted (and legal) expression of the nation in distress.

“It’s my country, too,” Barbara said. “Today I show that I am proud to be an American.” The USA is still in distress, but on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia in 1776, the Saturday demonstrators focused on their devotion to the red, white & blue.

“We the People” said one sign, alongside “Land of the Free, Home of the Brave” and “Love, Dignity, Respect.” Another sign read, “FREE Speech, FREE Thought, FREE Press, FREE Expression” — the principles of the First Amendment.

Earlier, a mother and daughter traveling from Italy stood with the group and asked to having their photo taken with the protesters. “I’m glad to know you are doing this,” the mother said. “Apologize to Italy for us,” one man told the Italian tourists. “Oh, we have our crazies, too,” the woman said, waving “Ciao.”

Barbara Snell, 95! Good for you, still doing the right thing.
Those Italian women know what the road to Fascism looks like, I sure they see the resemblance between Trump and Mussolini.
