Track Chairs Bring Redwood Trails Within Reach for Adaptive Recreation Event
Press release from the Redwood Parks Conservancy:
Redwood Parks Conservancy (RPC), in partnership with David’s Chair Outdoor Mobility Systems and the National Park Service, invites individuals with mobility limitations to experience the beauty of the redwood forest during Excursion in the Redwoods, an adaptive recreation event taking place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Elk Meadow Day Use Area in Redwood National Park.
The event will feature a fleet of all-terrain Track Chairs, providing participants with the opportunity to explore redwood trails that may otherwise be inaccessible. Individuals can reserve a one-hour Track Chair session and enjoy a unique outdoor experience among some of the world’s tallest trees free of charge.
Friends, family members, and caregivers are encouraged to attend and share in the experience.
“Everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the wonder of the redwood forest,” said Mark Abetz, Events and Community Engagement Director at RPC. “This event helps remove barriers to outdoor recreation and creates opportunities for more people to connect with these extraordinary public lands.”
Advance registration is required to reserve a Track Chair time slot. Space is limited. This event is free and open to the public.
