so you want to silence a voice of opinion different than yours? RHBB is pretty fair overall and I am thankful for it. Bud dose bring up some valid points. Every site he and others want to quote are deemed offensive to RHBB. But in reality the sites are defiantly right thinking and slanted. But the information is real. And has been proven so time and time again, over the last seven years.

I want a vote of popular opinion, as I can’t silence anyone on this site. But for him to constantly cry over her set rules is pathetic, she’s asked nicely for him to fix his action but continues to argue and disrespect her. And I wouldn’t allow that to happen to you either.
There are plenty of other blogs he could visit but still comes back to this one. Amazing that this site bothers someone so mush that just can’t go away. Enjoy the day.

I personally don’t have a problem with him, but if I were at her place of business and he treated her as such ( breaks her rules constant arguing with said business owner) then I would personally escort him off the property, but since this is a blog online a poll would show how many people like his action and how many people disagree with his actions.

Plus I’m bored. Wife’s at work today so I thought I’d spark things up to get September off to a nice start. ??? smoke em if you got em

I think we all learned in Freedom School that Christopher Columbus sailed Noah, the animals, Charlton Heston and Reagan to Plymouth to start America because the Natives wanted to throw a big potluck to celebrate their new found freedom to open carry bang sticks. How do you explain it already being named Plymouth when they got there? Duh!

While the Puritans views were extreme (they insisted on Sundays with no work and no recreation), they were exploited for cheap refuge labor in the Netherlands which itself was in constant, violent religious war between Catholics and Protestants at the time. They went to America as economic immigrants.
Liberalism in America has become so peculiar. Immigration for economic reasons is seen as a human right now, as is wanting to maintain their own cultural identity and language. Locals who object to that are called xenophobic and racist (even if pretty much the same race) by liberals. Yet, in a desire to see everything about American colonists as evil, the need to selectively belittle earlier groups doing the same thing that they support now is constant. Seemingly solely based on a liberal liturgy of hate based their peculiar ideas that white people and christianity are solely responsible for every American evils but none of its good.

Gosh, I was just making a smartass post.
Though, one of my ancestors got in trouble in those early years for baptizing his child in the wrong church. And a few other things that sound ridiculous to day. The Pilgrims were unpleasant and self-righteous assholes. Used to joke with my mom that he came on the second ship that saved the Mayflower’s surviving members. Then we found out that at least three of our ancestors (and their surviving spouses) came over on the Mayflower. Mom and I were disappointed at that.
So yeah, I do know the history.

Oh you are most welcome. I did forget to mention a half and half mixture of lemon juice and water. Toss the slices in the solution and then place them in the dehydrator. It helps to stop some of the browning, as pears are wont to do.
Have fun and hope you enjoy them. 🙂

Amnesty International Social media moderation guidelines

Please keep the following in mind when writing comments:

Respect others. Please be polite to all the members of our community, including other commenters, authors and the subjects of articles.

Amnesty International is a human rights organisation. We post news and updates on a wide range of issues, from our current campaigns on refugee rights, women’s rights and protecting human rights defenders, to our reactive work on human rights violations. Some of our content generates a lot of discussion, which we welcome. However, when our content is purposefully hijacked by those who seek to deny human rights to any group, we will remove the comments. We will also remove comments when the volume becomes so overwhelming that our social media channels cannot serve their purpose (i.e. to inform you about our work and invite you to support us).

I’d be fine with that.
However, I do think that Kym has been extremely lenient in allowing comments.
I would hope that anyone reinstated would be more respectful of the rules.
I also wouldn’t mind a more rigid enforcement of the rules.
Currently, rules 4 (thoughtful discussion), 5 (civility), and 15 (unsubstantiated conspiracy theories) are treated much more like suggestions than actual rules. https://kymkemp.com/commenting-rules/
It seems odd that a comment pointing out a greengrocer’s apostrophe gets deleted, but comments calling the LGBT community pedophiles, comments accusing teachers of being pedophiles and groomers, and comments claiming that vaccines have killed millions of people are allowed to stay.

I didn’t break any rules. Please point out which rule I broke.

What I did was write, “No link provided due to RHBB censorship policies” when I posted a quote from a site that was not allowed to be linked by the RHBB censorship policies. I was abused and threatened for abiding by the rules, not for breaking them.

Clearly, I am the victim here. Now, in addition to being vilified for following the rules, you are cyber bullying me. I find it so stressful that I have developed an eating disorder, and am even questioning my sexuality. I just feel angry and depressed all the time for no reason, and have the urge to argue both sides of every argument at the same time while constantly changing the subject. Oh wait, maybe that isn’t sexuality, I might just be turning into a closet liberal…

#15 This website is primarily for getting out news. A commenter may be put on moderation or deleted if, in the eye of the site owner, they create drama or require too much work and get in the way of putting out news. [This includes repeatedly linking to tinfoil hat sites/those with a history of very poor fact checking.] https://kymkemp.com/2024/08/31/survey-seeks-input-from-humboldt-parents-on-universal-pre-kindergarten-needs/#comments
You’re free to read tabloids if you’d like. But you don’t need to copy and paste such drivel here.
And, when the moderator kindly asks you to stop, for the love of God stop.

My goal is not to get under peoples skin, my goal is to criticise the censorship of conservative political voices. This is taking place in the media and with tech companies, and by extension here. You can argue that isn’t happening, but you will become frustrated, because it is…

I am against reparations. And when did California take land form Blacks? Japanese, yes, and those families were compensated in the 80s. These wacko bills clog up real work that should be worked on in Sacramento. All the woke, and dei stuff and free stuff needs to end.

Black activists at the California assembly threatened a “direct impact” on Vice President Harris’ presidential campaign after state Democratic lawmakers held off on two bills that would have greenlighted slavery reparations.
Last week, the California legislature approved proposals allowing for the return of land or compensation to families whose property was unjustly seized by the government, and issuing a formal apology for laws and practices that have harmed Black people. But none of those bills would provide widespread direct payments to African Americans. After hours of heated debate and protests on Saturday, state lawmakers left out two bills – Senate Bills 1403 and 1331 – that would have created a fund and an agency to oversee reparation measures.
“The speaker needs to bring the bills up now, now, now. These are their bills. They have their names on the bills. They’re killing their own bills because they’re scared of the governor,” one Black man, a member of the Coalition for a Just and Equitable California, said in the rotunda on the last day of the legislative year on Saturday. “Now listen, they’re gonna see this, and they’re gonna get mad at us. They killing their own bills, and then they’re gonna get mad at us. They’re killing their own bills because they’re scared of the governor. We don’t care. Bring the G– d— bills up now, now, now.”
“We need to send a message to the governor,” a Black woman who is part of the same group chimed in, according to video shared on X. “The governor needs to understand the world is watching California and this is gonna have a direct impact on your friend Kamala Harris who is running for president. This is going to have a direct impact, so pull up the bills now, vote on them and sign them. We’ve been waiting for over 400 years.”

Why is it after literally thousands of documented fraudulent voter registrations and votes that some repeatedly claim there’s no evidence of election fraud, as if they say the lie often enough it becomes truth, like the Nazi propaganda method? And why is it US stands as the lone outlier in the civilized world that doesn’t require voter ID to assure fair elections, even when the majority of Americans want voter ID? The only possible reason is that ID check could thwart to malevolent purpose of the Kammunists, to seize power by corrupt means.

Wait for it, here comes a link from a propagandist outlet refuting the obvious, to all but the willingly ignorant.

Sigh, Oregon, where I live now, has had vote-by-mail for at least 26 years. It works fine. Even the late Sec. of State, Dennis Richardson, a Republican, was very supportive of it. In his last year, he reported that out of over two million votes, 54 were sketchy. 10 went to court.
And lo, they weren’t illegal immigrants. They were people who did things like voting in both WA and OR (frickin’ Vancouver) or the mother who signed her daughter’s ballot, because the daughter was away at college (yeah, they check signatures, amazing!).
I look at people who patriotically stand in lines for hours to vote. Despite some states attempting to limit polling stations, closing many (hence the super long lines because people are forced to go to fewer polling stations. Those people, I can not tell you how much I respect them and defying attempts to suppress voter turnout. Or even being pissy enough to not allow water to be given to those standing in line for all those hours.

“…requesting or requiring…“
That is a sneaky way to make it sound more wide spread than it is. Requesting is certainly not the same as requiring and should not be lumped together. You also fail to make clear that quite a few of those states do not require ‘photo’ IDs. Something like a utility bill counts as identification. Less than half of the states require photo ID to vote in person. Lastly, as Overtaxed pointed out, this is for in-person voting, not mail-in or dropping in a box.

https://ballotpedia.org/Voter_identification_laws_by_state

The truth is that 46 out of the 47 countries in Europe require photo ID to vote. The UK is the only exception. Somehow those laws in Europe are not viewed as racist, but rather as a common sense method to curtail fraud. The vast majority of those also do not allow mail in voting unless you live overseas or are debilitated.

And there’s literally no evidence of “thousands” of cases of voter fraud. None. Affidavits can be submitted by anyone without proof saying almost anything they want to. They’re not “proof.” Furthermore, almost every single case of voter fraud committed during the 2020 election was done by Trump supporters.

Nearly. Every. Single. Case.

Bud

There are 1546 instances of proven voter fraud in recent elections (meaning a prosecutor took it to court), and there were 1313 criminal convictions.

Rasmussen Reports conducted a national survey of 1,085 likely voters and found that 28% of the mail in votes were fraudulent in the 2020 presidential election.

The Heritage foundation has a database of voter fraud charges and convictions. How is that not credible? You can look up every case brought by prosecutors and every conviction.

The Rasmussen poll provides the methodology, including the actual questions asked, and provides the results to each question. How is that not credible?

If these well documented facts are in conflict with the information you receive from CNN, MSNBC etc, perhaps you should be questioning the credibility of CNN, MSNBC etc who are making baseless and incorrect claims…

Yes, the database shows people who were convicted. Often the media linked show how those people were detected, and how their votes were excluded. Unfortunately, a lot of the links to media are broken.

Many of the cases are felons voting. Many people voting “on behalf of” their dead parents. What looks to me like many snowbirds voting in FL and their home state.

What is unsurprising is that a lot of these involved local beef. Like one guy who was pissed off about a local nuisance ordinance and he tried to unseat members of his local village board. Kind of hilariously, there was a conspiracy of 7 or so people (so there are 7 cases) who engaged in a conspiracy to get a relative/friend elected as the county jailer. Aim high!

And yet, these people were all caught and convicted. Pretty cool.

Might it have something to do with Right Wing websites making it seem so widespread and easy to get away with that their followers actually believe it is widespread and easy to get away with, thereby making them more likely to try?
It’s most entertaining to see these sites inadvertently set a trap that their own people end up getting caught in.

Except when it isn’t. But everyone seems willing to believe what they find agreeable without checking.
“Perception is said to be reality. Often that’s the case. In my experience matters of voter fraud tend to defy those expectations. Democrats will commonly say there’s not meaningful voter fraud and if there is, it’s Republicans who’re responsible. Republicans often say there’s considerable voter fraud while asserting it’s to the advantage of Democrats.
There have been 32 criminal convictions thus far in 2022 stemming from voter fraud in prior election cycles after 21 criminal convictions last year …
Democrat: 14
Republican: 10
Non-partisan/Not determined: 8
What I can tell you based on having studied the topic regularly over the course of my career is that this breakout is typical. No party has a monopoly on voter fraud, through there are slightly more Democrats found to be guilty of engaging in it. This is the latest reminder that all voters should care about integrity in elections and that political talking points often don’t match reality.”

Why is it some folks keep a statistical non-issue alive? Maybe directed to do so, as part of Trump’s Stolen Election 2.0 strategy, the intention of which is to
A) create doubt as to ballots/ vote-count/ certification,
B) leading to chaos if not political violence on Fed, State, and local institutions and staff.

It’s likely many Trump-supporting onliners — the unwitting, and not — are cogs in such a strategy. How will you feel if Trump supporters are incited by Trump and/or lieutenants, surrogates, low-life malcontents, to create civil unrest around the election?

I’m just posting this odd thing that Trump said the other day because my husband’s response is still making me chuckle. Trump said:

“You take a look at bacon and some of these products, and some people don’t eat bacon anymore.
And we are going to get the energy prices down, when we get energy down – you know this was caused by their horrible energy. Wind – they want wind all over the place, but when it doesn’t blow we have a little problem.”

My husband replied to the effect: “People aren’t eating bacon anymore because all the flying pigs have been killed by the windmills”.

The families of those Harris and Biden killed at Abbey Gate invited them both, along with Trump, to their Arlington remembrance but only Trump came. Harris also skipped their bodies returning to Dover, when Biden was incessantly checking his watch wanting to get out of there

Laura Loomers comments will surely attract a lot of new voters for Trump and the rest of the Republican candidates. Good luck with that!

“The only “suckers and losers” are the people who would vote for (Harris) …”

Since you’ve gone off-topic with new, noting the suckers and loser comment Trump made — according to Kelly, his own Chief of Staff — as to veterans: Trump’s own Secy’s of Defense, Mattis then Esper, learned to mistrust him, as did Joint Chief’s head Milley. As did Kelly. As did his National Security advisor’s, McMaster and Bolton.

Mattis described Trump as “the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us.”

Esper described Trump as “an unprincipled person who, given his self-interest, should not be in the position of public service.”

McMaster on Trump and J6: His “ego and love of self… drove him to abandon his oath to ‘support and defend the Constitution,’ a president’s highest obligation” and “The attack on the US Capitol stained our image, and it will take a long-term effort to restore what Donald Trump, his enablers, and those they encouraged took from us that day.”

Bolton on a Trump second-term : “Trump is unfit to be president” and “It is a close contest between Putin and Xi Jinping who would be happiest to see Trump back in office”

Milley perhaps put everything in context as to the threat posed by Trump:
“We don’t take an oath to a king or a queen or to a tyrant or a dictator. And we don’t take an oath to a wannabe dictator. We don’t take an oath to an individual. We take an oath to the Constitution, and we take an oath to the idea that is America, and we’re willing to die to protect it.”

Trump is a very flawed candidate, and he’s dragging the rest of the Republican candidates into the gutter with him.

Those “lifelong politicians talking shit about Trump” all have quite the resumes you might want to be a little more open-minded.

Trump hired them and
1) they crossed their fingers (that he was more than self-serving), and
2) felt the least they could do was water down his more idiotic requests.

There are many dozens, maybe hundreds, of former Trump appointee’s who won’t vote for him again.

PLASMA FALLS ON THE SUN: Imagine a waterfall made of hot plasma falling from a precipice tall enough to swallow Earth five times. Here it is:

comment image

Dutch photographer “Neo” captured this movie on August 28th. “For three days I’ve been watching these prominences around the edge of the active sun,” he says. “The plasma did not stop falling for a moment.”
Plasma falls have been seen on the sun many times before, yet researchers still don’t fully understand them. One big mystery is how fast they fall. The sun’s gravity is powerful, but not powerful enough to pull the plasma down so quickly through the thicket of solar magnetic fields.
Nuclear engineers would like to figure out how this happens, because it also happens on a smaller scale in fusion reactors, frustrating their efforts to sustain an energy-producing reaction. Studies of plasma falls on the sun could lead to practical breakthroughs here on Earth.

Since It seems to be a day for polls:

”On Friday, billionaire Dallas Mavericks minority owner and hardcore left-winger Mark Cuban pushed out a poll to his 8.8 million followers in an effort to attack Donald Trump. But it seems likely he didn’t expect the outcome he got.
In his poll, Cuban asked, “Who’s persona and character would you like to see young children grow up to have?”
He gave his followers the choice of “Donald Trump” and “Kamala Harris.”
Unfortunately for Cuban, a Harris supporter, Donald Trump won this poll, and not by just a little, either. Trump’s lead was double that of Harris.”

I don’t follow; are you saying Cuban didn’t make a poll for his followers? Or are you saying the results were are being incorrectly reported?

I can tell you want so badly for something to align with your world view.
It must be tough when facts keep ganging up on you.

Cuban’s was an informal survey- it’s not statistically relevant.
Good thing, too because right now you’re losing 9-4 in the ‘Vote Bud Off the Island’ survey.

If you want something that carries a bit more credibility, there are actual favorability surveys.
Right now Harris averages 46.1% favorable/47% unfavorable. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/favorability/kamala-harris/
Trump is at 43% favorable/52.5% unfavorable. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/favorability/donald-trump/

Yes, it is an informal survey, that was clearly stated in the blurb, the way you learned it was an informal survey is the way we all learned it was an informal survey, by reading what was posted. No one is claiming this is the final presidential election results, we all know it is simply an informal survey that was only posted because it was interesting, not to alter the cosmic universe.

So in the next sentence after claiming an informal survey has no credibility, and is not statistically valid, you state the results of a different informal survey. What are we to make of this? Should I pay attention to the informal survey or dismiss it out of hand like you did? Please advise…

You can dismiss it.
Just like you can rest assured that you won’t be banned from posting here because of the survey on your unfavorability.

The fact that Trump won this poll makes the poll wrong and poorly conducted, especially amongst the highly disturbed Trump haters.

Brazil has blocked Elon Musk’s X social media platform after the SpaceX and Tesla CEO refused to comply with the nation’s demands to blacklist certain accounts. Musk claimed on his platform that the country also froze the assets of Starlink, his satellite internet company.”

After Musk refused to comply with a Supreme Court order to name a legal representative in the country
The country requires all internet service companies to have a legal representative within Brazil to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
Their country, their rules sound familiar.

Under Brazil’s laws, social media companies operating in the country must employ someone to handle government takedown notices, including those regarding political misinformation and incitements to violence.”
Sigh that must be nice.
And I do not want to hear that Elon Musk is a “free speech absolutist”. Except when people use words he doesn’t like, cisgender being one. Labeling NPR as “unsafe”. I especially find his suing advertisers who decline to advertise or stop advertising on Xitter not very absolute (except where his pocketbook is involved). A company choosing who they advertise with is also free speech.
Here’s an article from the Cato Institute. You know, the Cato institute founded by that radical leftist Charles Koch. (I hope you realize that that last sentence is sarcasm).

They tell me it is because I break the rules, but so far I am completely in the dark about which rule I have broken. The best explanation I have been given is there is a ‘panties in a wad’ clause in rule 15 which states that if you irritate the moderator they can ban you. Kind of funny that talking about censorship gets you censored…
