CDPH Recommends All Californians Stay Up to Date on COVID-19 Vaccine

Press release from the California Department of Public Health:Covid-19 vaccine

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The California Department of Public Health recommends all Californians stay up to date with the latest COVID-19 vaccine.

SACRAMENTO – Following federal approval of the updated COVID-19 vaccine and recommendations for the upcoming winter respiratory virus season, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is recommending all Californians stay up to date on the vaccine and get the updated shot when available.

For renewed protection against severe illness, hospitalization and death, all Californians 5 years and older should receive one dose of the updated COVID-19 vaccine, as long as it’s been 2 months or more since their most recent dose. Getting vaccinated may also minimize your symptoms if you do become infected so you can return to your daily activities more quickly. Recommendations for younger children depend on the number of doses received previously.

CDPH strongly urges vaccination for individuals who are at high risk of serious illness from COVID-19 due to advanced age or underlying illness as this is the group of individuals most vulnerable to severe disease and the worst outcomes.

“Staying up to date on the COVID-19 vaccine is the best way to keep your immunity strong and protect yourself and others from severe illness, hospitalization, and death,” said CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer Dr. Tomás Aragón. “As we enter the winter season, it is crucial that all individuals remain up to date with vaccinations when they’re eligible, including flu, COVID-19 and RSV.”

WHO SHOULD GET VACCINATED

  • Everyone Age 5 and Up: Everyone 5 years of age and older, regardless of previous vaccination, is eligible to receive a single dose of the updated COVID-19 vaccine as long as it’s been at least 2 months since the last dose.
  • Younger Children and Infants: Infants and younger children, 6 months through 4 years of age, who have previously been vaccinated against COVID-19 are eligible to receive one or two doses of the updated vaccine. The timing and number of doses depends on the previous COVID-19 vaccine received.
  • Unvaccinated Younger Children and Infants: Unvaccinated infants and younger children, 6 months through 4 years of age, are eligible to receive three doses of the updated Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine or two doses of the updated Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

WHEN & HOW TO SCHEDULE YOUR UPDATED COVID-19 VACCINE: Initial supplies of updated COVID-19 vaccine are expected in California in the coming weeks. For added convenience, COVID-19, flu, and RSV vaccines can all be administered in the same visit. Schedule a vaccine appointment by visiting MyTurn.ca.gov or contacting your local pharmacy or health care provider.

HOW TO PAY FOR A COVID-19 VACCINE: COVID-19 vaccines will continue to be free for most Americans through their health insurance plans, including Medi-Cal and regular health care providers.

The CDC’s Bridge Access Program will provide limited quantities of COVID-19 vaccines to uninsured and underinsured adults through December 2024. The Vaccines For Children (VFC) program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children (18 and younger) who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability to pay.

CDPH’S VIRUS PREVENTION TIPS: The best defense against COVID-19 and other winter viruses starts with good prevention. Follow these five tips to protect yourself and others:

  • Stay Up to Date on Vaccines: Vaccines reduce the chances of infection and are the best defense to limit severe illness and death. COVID-19, flu, and RSV vaccines will all be available for this winter season.
  • Stay Home if You’re Sick, Test for COVID and Treat if Needed: Staying home when you’re sick slows the spread of COVID-19, flu, RSV, and even the common cold. If you have symptoms, test for COVID-19 and contact your doctor immediately to seek treatment. Treatments work best when started right after symptoms begin.
  • Consider Wearing a Mask in Indoor Public Places: Wearing a mask significantly reduces the spread of respiratory viruses, especially in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces.
  • Wash Your Hands: Frequent handwashing with soap and warm water, for at least 20 seconds, is an easy and very effective way to prevent getting sick and spreading germs.
  • Cover Your Cough or Sneeze: Remember to cough or sneeze into your elbow, your arm, or a disposable tissue to help prevent the spread of winter viruses. Wash or sanitize your hands and dispose of your tissue after.

I received each and every vaccine and still contracted COVID, along with many other folks. I don’t catch the flu when I get a flu shot, so I refuse to enrichen big pharma wealthier.

But you are here to complain while a certain percentage of people with a naive immune system failed to mount an effective response and died. Vaccines only do that- expose an immune system to a particular virus in part so it can respond faster. Hopefully before the virus out competes it. Result varies as individuals vary.

With a virus that changes every couple of months, it is a much harder proposition for a new vaccine to target the new evolution to make the immune system respond faster than it would without the vaccine. Still it will trigger some increased antibodies but so short lived, is it worth it? At this point everyone needs to decide for themselves how their immune system will act, their risk of exposure and their willingness to put up with the result. But that is not the same as the anti vaxxer fear mongering getting hysterical over off-the-wall fantasies as they do.

I don’t remember anyone more “hysterical over” people who didn’t want the shots from the beginning, claiming they would infect everyone else.

“At this point everyone needs to decide for themselves” was true all along, you’re getting closer to not insulting people you call “anti vaxxers and conspiracy theorists” and that’s progress, congratulations!
I agree with you on several subjects, but not on covid.

Yup. People who have an infectious disease are nothing to get hysterical about. Really. If they want to keep announcing it’s just the flu and that getting a vaccine will give you magnetized arms, cancer and change DNA, it’s their choice. Now if there was a magical way to reduce the chance of them infecting others, like vaccination or masks, it would all be great.

I will never stop insulting anti vaxxers and conspiracies for the very reason that they are unreasonable and yet still capable of screwing things up for others. 80 children and infants died in Samoa because chance gave them some credibility. Like vultures they encouraged death as a vindication of their irrational ideas.

I am and always have looked on vaccination reasonably. Which is why I said at this point. I know vaccination should be approached carefully but also that it should never ever be dismissed. It is anti vaxxers who are unreasonable and worse, irrational. They just make up nonsense. I stand against nonsense. If standing against nonsense is insulting, then so be it.

There is a logic to vaccines, California kids before Kindergarten require five inoculants, Polio 4 doses, DTap 5 doses Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis 3 doses, MMR- mumps measles Rubella, 2 doses Hep C 2 doses. Yikes!
We can agree they clearly are working and in pockets of the country where beliefs disallow innoculation, there are flare-ups that render the whole community at risk.
These are medical decisions, politics should have zero role and Trump was a creep due to that.

The people Guest called anti vaxxers explained over and over again that they had those vaccinations, and so did their children, those vaccines were well tested.
mRNA shots were not the same type of inoculation. People said they wanted to wait, maybe even a year or two, to see the results. As we can see, what was promised is not what was delivered.
Not to mention, No one has the right to force anyone to take an injection they don’t want by duress or threat.
I won’t forget the Democratic Politicians were in full support of Jim Jones at one time, how did that turn out.

Having non-vaccinated kids not allowed in school, is that duress?

Yes it is and it has created a robust market for fake paperwork.

California is also one of only 3 states that mandate childhood vaccines for school without allowing for religious or personal belief exemptions. It is an outlier in forcing this medical decision on parents.

Once upon a time, a doctor would bring a child into this world and care for them most of their life. That doctor would advise his/her patient on what was best for them personally. That doctor might recommend some vaccines and not others.
Yes, I think most children should get most of the old school vaccines. However, when doctors are no longer allowed to give their honest and truthful opinion to their patients without fear of reprisal, that changes everything.
Sadly, politics does play a huge part in how covid has been handled. As far as I can tell, immigrants entering this country and our schools are not immunized.
The politicians pushing these policies aren’t going by their own mandates.
And information about the mRNA vaxxes is being hidden and Tech has been enlisted to hide info. not approved by big Pharma and Politicians.
Just too many variables and unknowns for my liking.
For instance Libertybiberty asked,”Does this vaccine have MRC-5 in it?
that stands for aborted fetal cells and other DNA.”
That should be an easy question to get an answer to. Is it?

You should learn more about the MRNA “vaccines”. They do not use a virus too Boost your immunity, they literally reprogram your cells to produce a spike protein not native to your body.

VE isn’t very good, and just like the previous concoctions, the new version wanes quickly.

And that’s about the only reason I can figure why they would recommend a minimum dose interval of just two months .

Maybe what we can all agree in is how
difficult to access and understand and how confusing the information on this latest version of the vaccine”s effectiveness against symptomatic illness is…

First, you must tap the red “federal approval” “link” above… it then takes you to this article…

https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2023/p0912-COVID-19-Vaccine.html#msdynttrid=A8jWWppto39q4bcXsFQoPpVlurj7gWYCjsALZ-P86Lc

From there… …you must tap on the blue “greater protection” “link” which then takes you to a PDF…

I’m not sure how to link to that pdf…

…but here is one VE graph set…

I believe this concerns Pfizer…

It is nothing to write home about…

If it doesn’t concern them, it should concern others…

From that pdf…

Tap to open…

I mean 20% to 40% Vaccine Effectiveness against Symptomatic Infection is pretty weak, especially for a vaccine to be approved, isn’t it, or is that just my imagination…?

Especially considering that these stated VE’s have previously been significantly exaggerated, and have proven to be much lower than they have been represented to be by their various manufactures.

These statistics are very unreassuring.

Concerning, actually.

It seems like something this ineffective should not have even been approved in the first place.

Twenty to 40% is a pipe dream. Eighteen to 20% historically is the actual effectiveness of vaccines for a mutating virus. Not true for a one a done virus like polio. Why would anyone take an experimental drug with a 1 in 5 chance of being effective that has well documented side effects? At the poker table that’s known as bad odds and you fold. It’s the election variant, and it spreads through a paid off, corrupt media.

Here is another graph from the pdf linked distantly from this article…

What do you make of it?

The highest absolute VE it shows is 28%.

The lowest absolute VE it shows is a paltry 2%.

But what is interesting about the lowest absolute VE it shows is the range…

“-2% to 5%”

-2% …!!!???

Does that means that some studies showed that for some people, vaccination did more harm than good?

It appears that way.

And I believe I would fall into that category…

Real nice!

Recently released cdc data show that hospitalization rates match population wide vaccination rate. The product does not prevent hospitalization. The choice to continue to be flagrantly dishonest about this particular medical product has ruined public faith in the public health establishment like nothing in my lifetime.

True. Regulatory capture is a huge issue, especially in the enormous pharmaceutical industry. The fact that MDs and nurses overwhelmingly went along with this was eye opening and extremely disappointing and discouraging.

We cannot trust the powers that be (politicians, govt bureaucracy, corporations, etc, etc) and have to be extremely skeptical, observant, and well informed to keep the oligarchs from exploiting us.

Maybe the doctors and nurses noticed that in every age group, even among those least likely to die of covid, the unvaccinated were more likely to die.

Of course the point should be is the hospitalization rate the same for vaccinated and unvaccinated in the appropriate vulnerability catagories. Somehow I don’t think you meant to really say that hospitalization rate matches the population vaccination rate. That would be a meaningless coincidence and certainly incorrect as 70 to 80% of the population is clearly not in the hospital.

Yes, the hospitalization rate by age group matches the vaccination rate by age group. Indicating a complete lack of efficacy against hospitalizations.

Yet another claim of mrna proponents shown to be false. Which is why you have to resort to pedantry. All the condescending “explaining” you spent so much time on has been shown to have been just more hot air. Like the public health agencies, you have been revealed as an unreliable source of information on the topic.

I mean he did say that multiple masks work better than one mask, so why not multiple shots… However, CNN has recently conceded and even questioned him on the fact that many studies show that masks are completely uneffective against covid-19. ?

At that point, Fauci was just quite probably doing what he could to make sure that COVID became well established, contrary to popular belief.

He had much more to gain by giving bad advice at that time, so that COVID would spread initially like wildfire, than he had to gain by giving good advice, which could have slowed it’s spread.

Therefore, when you consider the probability that Fauci actually had bad intentions all along, (evil), and he didn’t actually want the pandemic to be stopped, then suddenly all of his many apparent “missteps”, start adding up perfectly, and were consequently not missteps at all.?‍♂️

The scumbag has been raking in the royalties off of the vaccines ever since. That would be his motive, if you were wondering…

Food for thought.

Really, give it a try, plug in any of his “errors” into the equation, and consideration the outcomes…

The herd immunity lies…

(That lie that there was any truth in it, and all the increasing lies about at what percentage it would occur…)

The Vaccine Efficacy lies…

(The lies that ALL of the vaccines would prevent death from COVID-19, etc., etc.)

The lies that the vaccines would stop transmission…

The lies about how often the shots would have to be repeated…

Need I go on…???

There is a simple solution to put your minds at ease.

If you don’t want to get it, don’t get it. Don’t see the word mandated anywhere.
This whole issue has been cussed and discussed over and over here. The stress you seem to be feeling over this is not good for you.

Mandates are not laws and do not have to be followed and cannot be enforced by a third party agency not even affiliated with our government and once you realize that you’ll know what it feels like to be aware of what’s really going on.

That’s a big no for me also. I was sick after the first two shots I received. Then I got Covid a year after my vaccine wore off and the symptoms were less than when I received the shots. I find it hard to take the government mandate’s seriously anymore. I see this new Covid crap coming during an election year. One election it was Ebola then zekia or how ever it’s spelled. Fear mongering is one of the favorite scams of election years.
I’ll re-evaluate when the death rate hits 20% of the healthiest population. Otherwise the government can just stay out of my shit! If your afraid I’ll give you Covid you have the right to just stay home..

This was not yesterday. It occurred last month when my parents had COVID and Lisa was off with a family matter.

That said, I was surprised that it had national or even local significance. Normally, I don’t report an exposure arrest unless there is a press release from law enforcement or a politician/prominent member of law enforcement/coach was involved. I guess it was the drag aspect that made it have value?

As I just replied to someone who just titled an email to me “daily mail uk does the news YOU won’t” and then ended with the dramatic statement “Protect the kids”:

Are you really arguing that I need to put out a full article on every indecent exposure? PC314 (2)—’cause I don’t.

For instance, I know that a few days before this arrest a guy named Nathaniel Hawk was arrested on the same exact charge. Never even occurred to me to post about it. (See attached) But it was available on our website’s arrests as was this man’s: https://kymkemp.com/2023/08/13/humboldt-county-jail-reports-daily-booking-sheet-august-13-2023/

There are plenty of Indecent Exposure arrests (and arrests on similar charges) every week. Unless law enforcement issues a press release or they are someone in a position of trust to the community (teacher, politician, coach, etc…) I don’t bother. I don’t have that kind of resources.

The only reason this is a story is because the guy did drag. If he was just a member of Rotary or the Elks Club or played Ultimate Frisbee no one would give a shit. I’m not interested on reporting on every transgression by minorities and ignoring similar transgressions by those in the majority–that’s literally what bigotry looks like.

Protect the kids!! Don’t be a bigot.

This is covid shot #6 right?

I’ve lost track there have been so many…

But somehow, it’s not a booster anymore?????

And it’s monovalent, not bivalent…???

(I always considered the bivalent a bad idea…)

What is the risk of having taking all six shots?

Six times greater than the first shot?

Or more?

After people have had (six shots?) Gavin says …..

‘We would’ve done everything differently’: Newsom reflects on Covid approachCalifornia’s Democratic governor says “we’re all geniuses now” in hindsight on the pandemic.

Gov. Gavin Newsom said criticism of California’s tough Covid-19 restrictions was valid and he would have taken an entirely different approach, given what he knows now about the pandemic.
“I think we would’ve done everything differently,” Newsom said in a taped interview set to air on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday.
“I think all of us in terms of our collective wisdom, we’ve evolved. We didn’t know what we didn’t know. We’re experts in hindsight. We’re all geniuses now.”

Later in the interview Newsom responded to criticism of his state’s decisions by saying: “All of it’s legitimate in terms of reflection.”
Host Chuck Todd pressed the California Democrat on specifics, including whether Newsom and state officials were too accommodating to the film industry during periods of strict distancing requirements where Californians were prevented, for example, from gathering for family funerals. “I think there’s a lot of humility. And we didn’t know what we didn’t know. And it was hardly I; it was we, collectively,” Newsom responded.

https://www.politico.com/news/2023/09/10/newsom-covid-california-00114888

………………………………………………………………….

So, after doctors licenses were canceled, nurses, any many others lost their jobs, experts were silenced, suddenly Gavin gets a clue, I call BS.
His kids were maskless in private school, He was feasting maskless with friends at the French Laundry, Nancy was maskless having her hair done, everyone else was locked out of their lives.
