The rapid response from both fire and law enforcement agencies in the face of the Creek Fire is commendable. The downgrading of the evacuation orders is a welcome development, but this situation is a glaring reminder of why we should never take emergency preparedness lightly. Also, the importance of real-time updates from reliable sources can’t be overstated in situations like these; misinformation can literally be a matter of life or death. Props to this outlet for their continuous updates and for acknowledging the fluidity of the situation. I sincerely hope this fire is fully contained soon, and that residents can return to their homes safely.

Thank you, Cal Fire and other responding crews for getting this fire out. There have been a number of fires this year and I can’t help but think they may have been started by one of those two-legged “fire bugs.”
