Cafe Owner Says Unidentified Woman Attempts to Light Local Cafe on Fire
On September 13th an unidentified woman entered the Woodrose Cafe in Garberville around noon with a bottle of what appears to be lighter fluid. The woman then proceeded to attempt to start a fire in the middle of the restaurant according to the cafe’s Facebook page.
Once staff and patrons of the Woodrose Cafe realized what was happening, they sprang into action. The owner wrote, “Thanks to a brave customer that chased her out and to our staff members that didn’t panic, nobody got hurt.”
The owners are trying to identify the woman and want to alert the community of the potential danger. If you have any information about the woman in the pictures, please contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 923-2761.

Not new but not the original owners. The woman probably worked there before they bought it. If so, some of the old timers in town will know who she is.

I see your point, but you may be exaggerating the harm. The pictures, in aggregate, are not too fuzzy and any local suspect could be cleared quickly, if innocent. Obviously, the suspect, whomever it is, has mental issues and may already be under care.

Attempted arson of an occupied building is legally defined as ‘first class arson’. It is an extremely serious crime punishable by up to twenty years in prison. I’m hoping the HSO is taking this with commiserate seriousness.
