1 New Hospitalization, 96 New Cases

COVID-19 featurePress release from Humboldt County Public Health:

Humboldt County Public Health reported today one new hospitalization due to COVID-19, a resident aged 80 or older. An additional 96 new cases were also reported, bringing to 17,722 the total number of confirmed positive cases for the virus.

Daily reported positive cases of COVID-19 have continued to decline from the peak of record-high numbers in January, but health officials caution that community transmission of the virus and confirmed cases remain high and an increase in hospitalizations tend to lag a few weeks after the peak.

Residents, particularly those who are unvaccinated, are encouraged to take protective measures against the highly transmissible Omicron variant by washing hands frequently, wearing a well-fitted mask approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), distancing six feet from others when possible and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces. The state remains under a mandatory mask requirement order in all indoor public spaces through Feb. 15.

COVID-19 vaccines remain effective against the virus, but CDC data shows their effectiveness at preventing infection or severe illness wanes over time, especially in people aged 65 or older. The CDC and other public health officials recommend eligible individuals aged 12 and older receive a booster, which increases the immune response and provides additional protection against infection and severe disease.

While vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals are both at high risk to get COVID-19, the risk of severe outcomes for those who are unvaccinated remains significantly higher. According to the latest data from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), unvaccinated people are eight times more likely to get COVID-19, 13 times more likely to be hospitalized from COVID-19 and 22 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than those who are vaccinated with a booster.

As always, Humboldt County’s vaccination and testing services are available free of charge. While walk-ins are allowed at all Public Health clinics and some pharmacy vaccination sites, appointments are recommended for all vaccinations and are the best way to ensure a shot is available during your visit. Appointments can be made at MyTurn.ca.gov.

Vaccines, including boosters, are available at local pharmacies. To check the availability of a specific vaccine, visit the vaccines.gov page, or text your ZIP code to 438829 to locate a nearby pharmacy offering vaccines.

See the schedule below for specific Public Health vaccination and testing clinic dates, times, locations and available services. Questions about clinic services can be directed to the Joint Information Center at 1-707-441-5000.

Who doesn’t want a safer mask? Here’s the mask hack going around…

one that created the best seal was the pantyhose: they cut a section out of the thigh of some hose and yanked that over the wearer’s head and mask. The pressure of the stretchy fabric kept the mask on tight, but there was a catch: people really hated wearing it.

“The pantyhose caused high levels of discomfort as well as issues speaking and occasional obstruction of the eyes,”

I see American truckers joined the Canadian Freedom Convoy and they’re all heading for our border. Are they going to have a harder time getting into the country than the two million undocumented aliens that flooded across our southern border last year?

Gallop pool finds only 33% of Americans believe the economy is going in the right direction, less than half as many as 2020. This declining metric traditionally portends doom for the party in power.

Polls are a really inaccurate source of information

  • Nonfarm payrolls rose 467,000 in January, well ahead of the 150,000 Wall Street estimate.
  • Leisure and hospitality led the gains, while professional and business services and retail also posted big numbers.
  • Wages surged, rising 0.7% for the month and 5.7% for the year.

what’s really happening in Ottawa.
“The vast majority of truckers – and Canadians – are vaccinated against the coronavirus, however. And most Canadians, even though they’ve grown tired of the pandemic, also say they’re against the sustained protests, which have paralyzed central Ottawa and forced businesses to close.”
“ Local people say the protests – which have included honking truck horns, but also allegations of assault and intimidation – have left them frustrated, fed up and – at times – in fear of leaving their homes.”

Let’s see, they are burning books in Tennessee, they are banning 1984, Maus, The Handmaids Tale in Texas (but not Mein Kampf), they are trying to pass laws that make teachers liable if they teach anything that offends a parents religious beliefs in Oklahoma and Indiana.

And you’re worried about fucking vaccine and mask mandates that are subsiding even as we speak (so to speak) because the pandemic is evolving into an endemic disease.

The “freedom convoy” is a bunch of petulant assholes throwing temper tantrums trying to prove absolutely nothing except that they are narcissistic shitheads.

People who supported the Seattle summer of love, have issues with peaceful trucker protests….hmm

People are waking up from being woke.

“But even if the crime wave everyone is talking about turns out to be wildly exaggerated—a mass psychological overreaction to a few sensational but rare criminal outbreaks—it’s still changing the way people are thinking and feeling and living. And maybe even voting. Otherwise solidly blue liberals, card-carrying NPR listeners who once marched in the BLM protests, have lately been overheard whispering about the need to refund the police and put criminals behind bars. If it goes on like this for much longer, L.A.’s political future could conceivably take a turn for the once-unimaginable.”

Bridgewater’s Ray Dalio Sees U.S. on Path to Civil War as Political Polarization Rises

Nathan Crooks, Bloomberg News

Ray Dalio, billionaire and founder of Bridgewater Associates LP, speaks during the Bridge Forum in San Francisco, California, U.S., on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. The event brings together leaders in finance and technology from Asia and Silicon Valley to connect and share insights. , Bloomberg

(Bloomberg) — Ray Dalio warned Thursday that the U.S. appears to be on a “classic path” toward “some form” of a civil war amid a dangerous combination of large deficits, high taxes, inflation and gaps in wealth and values that lead to political polarization.

“When that happens at the same time as there are foreign powers that are becoming strong enough to challenge the leading world power that is encountering this civil war dynamic, it is an especially risky period,” he wrote in a post on LinkedIn. “That is the period I believe we are now in.”

Dalio, the billionaire founder of Bridgewater Associates, said that both the left and right are “fighting to win at all costs,” eliminating moderates and the ability to compromise as a result. He said that a “loss of truth” in the public domain was making some people “too afraid” to speak up or run for public office.

“The biggest question is how much the system will bend before it breaks,” Dalio said. “History shows that the biggest risk to democracies is that they produce such fragmented and antagonistic decision making that they are ineffective and disorderly which leads to bad results and revolutions.”

“The current financial conditions and irreconcilable differences in desires and values are consistent with the ingredients leading to some form of civil war.”

“Not knowing what is true because of distortions in the media and propaganda increases as people become more polarized, emotional, and politically motivated.”

“When the causes that people are passionately behind are more important to them than the system for making decisions, the system is in jeopardy.”

“When winning becomes the only thing that matters, unethical fighting becomes progressively more forceful in self-reinforcing ways.”

Ee gads, such Bannon-like twists. Don’t be part of the problem.

The real dirt:
5 yrs ago, Trump, THE RINO, dried out and lit a fuse that should have stayed damp. See, that Putin-the-meddler (fact) and Xi are loving it. Americans against … Americans. Fucking self-serving fools, the militant hard right, and blind supporters.

Here’s how it goes:
Misinformation and plain lies get cooked into some understandable complaints, then doled out, gobbled up. The hook is set. The DC doors get rushed, and when that proves both idiotic and successful, the dupers rush the small doors of Democracy. Such as State and local races. Oh, and Covid? The schemers have played that right into their recipe for chaos, the FOX crowd taking the bait.

Where:
Currently, Shasta County. Militia fear-mongering, scaring their own Republican-majority community members, to get their people into office. Existing public officials and Supervisors (including long-standing law & order conservatives) have been “charged” with treason, pedophilia, defrauding elections, being against 2nd amendment, and more.

What’s next?
Maybe don’t swallow, tweak, spread mis-info and lies? Leave the camo and flag-pole at home (and the AR-15 locked up), teach the kids civics, and keep competent-enough officials in office (don’t elect wing-nuts). If not, the “Patriot” with the flag and billy-club, or worse, might spill through your computer screen, right into your living room. That’s right, he/she might be one of your own. He (or she) WILL be a relative of yours, a fellow American (and with Xi and Putin watching from home, laughing all the way to the bank, they not having to fire a shot).

Having TDS doesn’t get food to the grocery stores, Or medicines to pharmacies. Truckers do. Even if you break up the convoys, you can’t force them to make deliveries.

A couple of points on how dug in people are in their positions, where we see that Covid has separated freedom fighters from tyrants.
This civil unrest, protests and “tone” for lack of a better word have all been building like a crescendo of a musical passage, increasing and increasing, and we are getting ready to hit our “peak.”
It’s a freaking revolution, and the Biden regime, democrat leaders and their media puppets have been so busy attempting to dictate, intimidate, shame and threaten Americans for not toeing their liberal tyrannical lines, that they themselves haven’t realized the extent of what has been happening right under their noses.

You know this is delusional, don’t you? Well, maybe not.

The RNC just censured 2 of its members for, and I quote,

participating in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse”

because they are doing their jobs on the Congressional Inquiry into the Jan. 6th events. That’s what they actually wrote in their resolution. Storming the Capitol, breaking shit, assaulting Capital police, stealing stuff, vandalizing the building are now considered legitimate political discourse by the RNC.

An attempt to overthrow a valid election is considered legitimate discourse.

And you think vaccine and mask mandates designed to keep people alive and out of hospitals are example of trying to “dictate, intimidate, shame, and threaten Americans for not toeing their liberal tyrannical lines
and should be met with revolution.

*facepalm*

I was simply pointing out the level of delusion in contemporary right-wing thought, which is the driving force behind the “freedom convoys”.

That some of these folks drive big rigs is kind of an irrelevant bit of theater. Even the Canadian protest was a minority of rigs accompanied by pickups and cars.

Former vice president Mike Pence on Friday strongly rejected former president Donald Trump’s renewed claims that he could have personally overturned the results of the 2020 election.

“I heard this week that President Trump said I had the right to overturn the election. President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election. The presidency belongs to the American people, and the American people alone,” he said at a Federalist Society event in Florida.

“Frankly there is almost no idea more un-American than the notion that any one person could choose the American president,” he added.

We know the Trumpist-right politicized mask-and-vax and from the very beginning. The takeaway?: Lies and disinformation work (to freak people out). The militia-led takeover effort in Shasta wouldn’t have a chance without vax and mask paranoia, and outside money ($400K+ from a former wealthy resident now in Connecticut, for a rural-County Sup seat!).

Here’s 2020 words from a Shasta militia dude — a current Shasta BOS recaller — Mr. Carlos Zapata to the Shasta BOS if a mask requirement would be in effect: “This is a warning for what’s coming. It’s not going to be peaceful much longer.”

Is this what you want, Coffee, wherever it is you live?

More info on what’s up in Shasta:
“Specifically, (County) Supervisors Baugh, Rickert and Moty have all related to me that they’ve been receiving threats and those threats recently have become more frequent, more specific and more intense …”.

This vitamin D level and immune response correlation was reported on early in the pandemic ! But of course the mighty government chose to ignore this particular data and instead promoted selling vaccines for Pfizer and Moderna.I will always question *why did we not receive free effective masks( n95)and free at home rapid tests ,until recently.I think profits would be one motive to let a mild pandemic happen.
————+

https://www.businessinsider.com/lawmakers-bought-sold-covid-19-related-stocks-during-pandemic-2021-12

———————
https://www.timesofisrael.com/israeli-study-offers-strongest-proof-yet-of-vitamin-ds-power-to-fight-covid/

“Israel scientists say they have gathered the most convincing evidence to date that increased vitamin D levels can help COVID-19 patients reduce the risk of serious illness or death.
Researchers from Bar Ilan University and the Galilee Medical Center say that the vitamin has such a strong impact on disease severity that they can predict how people would fare if infected based on nothing more than their ages and vitamin D levels.
Lacking vitamin D significantly increases danger levels, they concluded in newly peer-reviewed research published Thursday in the journal PLOS One.”

There has been a consistent agreement that vitamin D3 level are correlated with severity of covid. The problem came in that blood levels of vitamin D3 are effected by a huge range of things from age through other diseases and there was no correlation between supplementing vitamin D3 levels and covid.

This study helps resolves the question of preinfection D3 levels because they sifted through thousands of documented covid cases for those people who incidentally had had a D3 test before being infected. They found about 250 or so people who had. From that group they checked into the resulting levels severity to find correlation between a lack D3 in more people with severe infections. But the authors of the study cautions that their study did not identify those who D3 levels were achieved through supplementation. “While our findings have identified an association between pre-infection VDD and COVID-19 severity, these results do not necessarily imply that VitD treatment will impact COVID-19 outcomes, and we should remain cautious about overestimating the potential benefit of VitD supplementation in improving outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 infection.”

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.06.04.21258358v1.full.pdf

In fact there has been consistent advice from CDC about maintaining vitamin D3 levels but what they could not say and still can’t was that supplementing D3 level would be protective against severe covid because both low levels of the vitamin and other comorbities exist together. Basically supplementation is not proven to help, in fact there are some studies that indicate it doesn’t, but it certainly is worth doing.

“Basically supplementation is not proven to help, in fact there are some studies that indicate it doesn’t, but it certainly is worth doing.”

So it doesn’t work but it’s worth doing huh? Like most of your Fauci driven advice, that makes ZERO sense.

Guess your narrative about lockdowns working fell apart this week too. Tough week for the vax cult.

I know that proven is a fluid word to anti vaxxers but that was the point. Proven means something to scientists but not what anti vaxxers mean. Something may not be proven yet but looks like it might when the data supports it. A too complicated idea apparently.

BTW I never had much any “narrative” about lockdownz. And you can’t “prove” I did. Even by anti vaxxer definitions. Mostly I just point out stupidities in anti vaxxer interpretations.. Lockdowns work to stop infection spread as long a people agree to it but need PRC level authoritarian to enforce when they stop creating more good than harm. And when attempted unsystematically despite resistance.

Hmm.. does this have anything to do with the mayor and the governor? Just in time for Super Bowl, where nobody will be wearing masks anyway…the time has come!!
https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-02-03/l-a-county-to-nix-masks-outdoors-once-covid-stats-improve?_amp=true

“ L.A. County unveils plans to drop some mask rules once COVID conditions improve. The county would enter this “post-surge” phase when coronavirus-positive hospitalizations drop below 2,500 for seven straight days, about 26% below the current figure. As of Wednesday, just under 3,400 coronavirus-positive patients were hospitalized countywide — though the number has dropped significantly in recent days and is down 29% from the apparent high mark of the Omicron wave, set a little more than two weeks ago, when about 4,800 were hospitalized.
It’s unlikely L.A. County will reach that goal in time for the Feb. 13 Super Bowl, but it could come relatively soon after. Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said the benchmark was developed in consultation with hospitals in the county, which agreed that hospitals could return to most of their customary operations with 2,500 or fewer coronavirus-positive patients.“

“We cannot continue to suspend duly enacted laws and treat COVID-19 as a public health emergency indefinitely. After two years, it’s no longer feasible or necessary. The flu and other infectious illnesses are part of our everyday lives, and coronavirus can be managed similarly,” stated Gov. Reynolds. “State agencies will now manage COVID-19 as part of normal daily business, and reallocate resources that have been solely dedicated to the response effort to serve other important needs for Iowans.”

Then mine probably will, too.

I didn’t give them an email address. I don’t really follow that.

I wonder why they have gone silent on it?

They might not work…

If they have been exposed to 35° or less on the way…

I wouldn’t worry about the cold unless Santa Claus is delivering them from the North Pole. And with “climate change” I am not sure it’s sub-freezing there.

Has Biden been able to get total employed and labor participation rates back to pre- covid highs (Trump numbers)? Will he ever or has his ARP created a permanent freeloader class?

Please be careful if you are pregnant.
Herbs of caution while pregnant
Some organizations that specialize in herbs have done extensive testing on their safety. … But in pregnancy, rosemary is considered Possibly Unsafe when used orally in medicinal amounts. Because rosemary may have uterine and menstrual flow stimulant effects, it is best to avoid using it.

You can still have an Italian dinner now and then.
Italians have babies.
Use herbs as they should be used, as seasoning, or a cup of tea.
Honey has antibiotic properties, you don’t have to overdose on any one item, but staggering several items in small amounts just might be beneficial.
Reminder, don’t give honey to babies.

Lots of people out there might start ingesting large quantities of Rosemary. Just a gentle warning. Was reminded of that with vitamin D3 article I posted. People have OD with taking to much. I have Rosemary in my garden .I believe in herbs but like all herbs be informed about them..

Did they work? And what happened to test kits free with our health insurance? I asked my pharmacy but they said “we don’t do that, buy them yourself and submit the receipt to your insurance”. 100 million individuals are supposed to mail receipts to their insurers and expect a check back?

Are you sure they haven’t recently thawed?

And 32° is freezing.

35° is what the lower limit is, for the tests.

How will anybody even know if the tests have been exposed to that or not?
