Arcata School District Seeking Candidates for Two School Board Vacancies

Two vacancies on the Board of Trustees of the Arcata School District will occur effective December 10, 2020. The Board of Trustees is seeking two qualified people to join the Board on December 11 for four-year terms.

Pursuant to Education Code sections 5091 and 5328, the Board of Trustees of the Arcata School District intends to appoint two qualified persons to the Board to fulfill these vacancies. Qualifications include being at least 18 years of age, a resident of the Arcata School District, and a registered voter. Additionally, applicants must live in designated trustee areas. One applicant will be chosen from trustee area 3 (surrounding Arcata Elementary School), and one from trustee area 5 (surrounding Humboldt State University). Completed applications must be received in the District Office no later than 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2020. The current members of the Board of Trustees will interview applicants in open session at a meeting on Monday, November 9, 2020. Successful applicants will be seated at the December 14, 2020 Board meeting.

Persons desiring to submit questions for the Board’s consideration in connection with the interview process may submit suggested questions in writing to the District Office by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
