Total new positive cases confirmed on April 25: 0
Daily COVID-19 case report for April 25
- Total number of positive cases: 53
- Total number of hospitalizations: 4
- Total number of recovered cases: 50
Total number of people tested by Public Health Laboratory: 1,317
Total number of people tested by all other sources: 675
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, California Department of Public Health and commercial labs)After receiving additional supplies, the Public Health Laboratory currently has a capacity of approximately 900 tests and can process about 65 samples a day with an approximate turnaround time of 48 to 72 hours.
Humboldt County’s case count remains 53. No additional cases were confirmed today.
Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said, “As always, it is encouraging to see no positive cases, but we recognize that we will see some increase in cases as we ease shelter in place. Regardless, it is important that we begin to move forward soon at the state and local level and are planning accordingly.”

On the News Break app it updates Coronavirus cases by state and county daily. It says there has been 2 deaths in Humboldt. Why isn’t this reporting through our local news outlets?

Dr. Massishi is a brilliant man too as well as Dr. Erikson, they’re both heroes. This video is a gamechanger, we should share it as much as possible and listen twice to be able to memorize quotes and content from it to share with others. Read the article linked by “Guest”, above. It’s a good article. They do admit “it is definitely now known that for persons with the frequently noted pre-existing health conditions, the virus has been very dangerous”.
Everyone has done a fine job with this shelter in place solution, but we are not seeing huge numbers of increasing cases. The shelter in place seems to have worked. Now it is time to take a measured approach and open up the economy, and let people get back to work.
As someone who is over sixty, and has underlying health conditions, I thank you for your sacrifice. I now know how to wash my hands properly, wear a mask, and disinfect myself (but I won’t be drinking lysol). I will continue to take careful measures to keep myself safe.
Cardiovascular disease, hypertension, obesity, cancer, respiratory disease, and diabetes are typical types of comorbidities that have increased risk of death for those getting Corvid 19. Many of us will continue to have these additional risk factors, and the disease will continue to be around us. Trying to keep the disease in check until a vaccine is available is a good and noble idea, but forcing so many people to continue to sacrifice their lives (for us) is not. I did notice that our policy makers, and many people working government jobs, are still working. Maybe they would be more conducive to convince them it’s time to get back to work if they were not working.
It’s easy to shelter in place when you have a refrigerator full of food (or ice cream), and money in the bank. Not the same for those who are hungry and broke.

So we’ve tested around 2000 people in a county of 135,000 and want to call that good enough to open back up? A lot of folks feel like the virus went through our county Jan-Feb, so random antibody tests that are just to determine presence not find a vaccine are needed. We dont know yet if folks getting it a second time are getting it worse or not.
Doctors around the world are posting all the different symptoms and ways the virus is killing. Its mutating like viruses do, attacking heart, liver and intestines. Patients having immediate loss of oxygen after seeming fine minutes before

you havent used math to say why we need more testing. if out of the 2000 we tested were x positive then if we test more how many would come up positive? so why for the small number of x why would we need to test everybody? and you cant force people to test and you cant force people to vaccinate even if we had one
so if 1 in 1000 of the tests were positive then (why do we need testing) we would have 135 people positive. how many of the 135 people would be deadly?
