[UPDATE: Good News!]Family of Fort Bragg Teen Missing in San Francisco Asks for Help

Sienna Carter missing posterLast Friday, January 3rd, 13-year-old Sienna Carter left UCSF’s Madison Clinic for Pediatric Diabetes at 3:30 pm telling her mother and grandmother she was sick and needed to get some air. She never returned. An hour later, a restaurant hostess two miles away reported seeing her alone and cold in the Tenderloin neighborhood, invited her into the restaurant feeding her bread and tea and then watched her meet up with an adult male.

Sienna Carter

(See earlier story with description here.) Her family fears Sienna was lured into human trafficking circumstances.

Sienna’s family lives in Fort Bragg, California, nearly 200 miles from the place Sienna was last seen. In order to support the family, a GoFundMe has been created. Theresa York, a close friend, and co-worker of Sienna’s grandmother, was the one who generated the GoFundMe.

Sienna Carter

“I wanted to help the family with funds for them to be able to get to the Bay Area! They are 200 hundred miles away! The funds will help with accommodations, travel, fliers, and anything else they may need!”

Sienna’s grandmother Jamie Buckner described the impact of her granddaughter’s disappearance on the family: “We are not well off but nothing fiscal will deter anything. Stacy (Sienna’s mother)is a non-driver and may need help with rides etc [but]bit family members have offered assistance. Am I worried long term?  Will we end up trying to hire a private investigator? I pray not.”

If you would like to contribute to the search efforts, click here to go to the GoFundMe.

To follow what is happening with the search for Sienna, follow the Help Find Sienna Carter Facebook Group or Cold Case Mendocino.

If you have any information about Sienna’s whereabouts, please contact the UCSF Police Department at (415) 476-6911 or Mendocino County Sheriffs Office at (707)463-4411.

UPDATE 5:40 p.m. Sunday: The Help Find Sienna Carter Facebook page is reporting, “She is alive and in police custody!”

The post states, “Thank you everyone for your help and support. This was a long few days for the family and friends and we are so happy to have found her!”

We’ll update when further information comes in.

Should definitely hire a private investigator because SFPD is a joke and I doubt Fort Bragg’s is much better. I truly hope the girl is found soon, and safe.

I saw a girl unconscious thrown into a tent by my house. I called 911, they wanted me to go out and point out the tent even though I gave an accurate address. As a surviver of sex trafficking I was terrified to do so. This last week was worse. There’s no help where I live and I’m searching for help. I’m afraid to go back to my own home most of the time. The police station is two blocks away, but it does no good to call for help

Check Golden Gate Park and The Tenderloin. She could be being trafficked off of Broadway st. too. Pill Hill on the Height and the soup kitchens could be a good start to bring fliers. Homeless ppl know their surroundings very well so talk to the street ppl. They watch everything. This is so sad and tragic. I pray she is ok and not hurt in any way. These young girls need to know there are wolves in sheeps clothing everywhere. Why was there not a Amber Alert???

That is a VERY unlikely scenario. The man who she met with is most likely not even a resident of San Francisco, but rather traveled there to meet her. Think about it

Seriously contact federal agencies! There are definitely agencies working on human trafficking especially with younger teens in San Fran and Nor Cal in general.
Honestly i have had good experiences calling our federal and state senators. You pay their salaries, call all their offices and ask for help connecting with agencies who are super up to date with human trafficking in the bay area.

Our local police do not have the knowledge or resources to handle this type of case.
In nor cal rural areas, anytime someone goes missing you have to hire a PI to get results. Start looking, there are some PI’s who will do pro bono work when kids are involved as well as retired fbi agents who will often donate time. You need someone who understands the world your sweet girl may have been lured into.

We’re so sorry your family is going through this&envision her returning to you unharmed

From what I’ve read it looks like she left the medical center on Owens street and was seen at a restaurant on Van Ness/Redwood st (which don’t intersect). I’m assuming the restaurant is Max’s Opera Cafe. That would be quite the walk through some not so pleasant neighborhoods, so I’m assuming she got a ride. Wonder if the authorities have contacted Uber/Lyft/taxi and how it was paid for. The ride may have been ordered and paid for by the suspect.

Two miles is a 30 minute walk for any healthy person.

Van Ness and Redwood do intersect. The restaurant they are referring to must be August 5. I do a walk longer that that and it’s not that long at all. Its all flat and she is 30 years my junior.

She also could have taken the bus for a couple bucks, but I agree that Uber is quite likely if she didn’t walk.

🕯🌳Start checking all cameras in the area,ATM’s,traffic cameras, store security cameras anything will help. But with luck they have already started in this direction. 🛐👁

I’m sorry, but letting this person into her personal space, has already damaged her. Get her home, get some help. Waaaayyyyy toooooo young to get herself out of whatever she got into.

Seems obvious, but hopefully her phone is on a family plan and if so it should be relatively easy to log in to the account on the provider’s website and get a complete history up to the moment of all calling and texting activity. It might take some arm twisting to get them to bother but law enforcement is definitely capable of following up with that data to get pinged location information for where each phone was at the time of the call or text.

I sincerely hope that your daughter is found, and not harmed.

As the father of two young women, there can be nothing worse than a time when you don’t know where your child is!

Too many predators, too many trusting people.

I hope this ends well, and you find peace!

Before Melinda could retrieve the phone number, Sienna “grabbed it from me and told me I never get to do that.”

Red flag – If my child did that I’d either take the phone away or turn off service with the provider until I was given access. I pay the bill – my phone, I get to see what your accessing and who you’re talking to. Who’s the boss? Me! And the attitude would be dealt with accordingly.

U must not have kids. The reference is when parent is worried/suspects something. Commenter is not talking about in general!! It is a matter of protection/safety, not spying. This girl told her aunt she was not allowed to view her phone, when aunt already knew something was weird.

It’s different when you’re legally responsible for everything Pretty Baby does, whether you’re aware she’s doing it or not.

Agreed! She has been found, thank goodness, so I feel I can say this:
1, I agree with you…if I want to look at my childrens’ phones because something seems weird, it is a fact that no child of mine is going to tell me no.
2, one article talked about this “child” of 13 being confused because her “ex” wanted to get back with her but there was also this “new guy.”
I had to recheck her age when I read about her having an “ex boyfriend.”
I mean, puppy love/crushes, but having an ex at 13 seems very weird. I mean, what, is she allowed to date guys on her own??
I am very relieved all is ok but seems like family needs to stop making excuses for this girl (she’s been upset, they say) and start applying some serious discipline/consequences/attention.
This girl willingly walked off with an older man!! And created a huge state of panic for her family/the public.
All kids these days, I hope, know better than that!!!!!!!

Hopefully this is a learning experience for all parents! Stop allowing your children to have phones that give them internet and social media access. Does it really take something terrible to happen before parents realize 13 year olds are not capable of making good decisions.

I put a parental lock on my kids phone and wi-fi that you can disconnect with an app. Than again, predators can hack into your kids nanny cam or PlayStation. They are watching. And listening. Welcome to the new world. The days of luring with puppies and candy is over. Now it’s fantasy’s of people who are not who they are. Fantasy’s of a better life through the exploitation of ones own weaknesses and fears.

She needs to go on tv, the morning shows, etc. and broadcast this story to help other young kids! If she can play her cards correctly, she could even try to become a cute little teen model or diabetes awareness spokesgirl, then she wouldn’t need to hook up with creepy street predators. Of course, there are creepy predators in showbiz also, but she will have the notoriety, and hopefully a new-found education/awareness to blow the whistle if anyone messes with her.
Good luck to her and her family.

Glad she was found. Hopefully this is a learning experience for all parents! Stop allowing your children to have phones that give them internet and social media access. Does it really take something terrible to happen before parents realize 13 year olds are not capable of making good decisions. They are targets for predators. It’s crazy to see so many young kids with iPhones in their hands.. parents use it as a baby sitting method and so their kids Fit in with the rest of society. It’s not worth it. At least wait till 16 when they can hopefully make better choices!!!! No child should be put in the path of a predator by having a Facebook account so young.

You know, when I was a kid, a 13 year old was expected to be doing most adult activities, making good decisions, safely handling a firearm, and helping run the family if there were younger siblings or grandparents to care for. Pretty sure kids aren’t growing up slower now unless you’re refusing to let them.

I know just what you mean. I had the choice between breaking everyone’s eyeballs ranting about kids nowadays, and hormones, and the insanely dangerous stuff they get into… or staying silent and worrying my brains out. So I stifled myself and screwed up the courage to look again right before bed.

I hope it wasn’t too hard on her, but maybe just hard enough that she’ll go back to being a young girl and waiting until she’s better-equipped to handle the world.

Super glad she was found! Hope she is okay! Kudos to the restaurant worker for looking out! FB and the Anti social media can be super gateway to trouble for the youth these days! Please encourage the youth to interact cautiously! Bless!

Stop attacking the young woman! Consider the messages that girls receive 100% of the time:

“Be beautiful, be sexy, post photos on IG and FB, work those men!”

It’s sick, and, hopefully, one more chunky Asian guy will be in prison for kidnapping a teenage woman.

Have some compassion. The child was found. Be happy!

If you want to attack, attack the parents! This child is innocent.
