Redwood Tree Falls Across Avenue of the Giants Near Myers Flat

A large redwood came down across the Avenue of the Giants just north of Myers Flat this afternoon, near the Garden Club of America Grove, prompting a reported closure of the roadway.
The closure was first reported at 3:10 p.m., with an anticipated reopening of the scenic Avenue of the Giants around 5 p.m. Officials, one source said, arrived on scene around 4 p.m. this afternoon.
As of this article, it appears that traffic is slowed but moving in the area. The previous closure does not appear on Caltrans QuickMap or in CHP’s public incident log. Please use caution if driving in the area.
