To keep AT&T wireless and AT&T PREPAID customers in areas directly affected by the Power Shutdowns throughout California connected during this difficult time, we’re providing unlimited talk, text and data access by issuing credits and waiving overage charges.
This offer is for customers based in 802 specific zip codes and runs from October 29, 2019 through midnight on November 2. We will apply the credits and waivers automatically for AT&T wireless customers with billing addresses and AT&T PREPAID customers with phone numbers in directly impacted zip codes* at this time.1 Customers in these areas may still receive alerts during these dates, but accounts will reflect the credits and/or waived data, voice and text charges.

All those zip codes and almost everyone’s freezer has meat and vegetables. Pg&e needs to compensate but it’s probably easier than buying burnt down houses.
What about land lines not working Monday during the power shut off?
I was really surprised by that. I have a landline hardwired phone JUST FOR POWER OUTAGES. And it didn’t work. This has never happened to me before and I have heard no explanation or excuse.
Do you have the correct type of phone? Not all phones work without power. Also many “land lines” today are not true land lines, they are voice over Voice over Internet Protocol. If you also have other services from ATT, such as cable TV, you may not have a real land line at all.

All I have from AT&T is my landline phone. It has always worked in power outages before this most recent one.
In fact my phone worked fine in the local storm caused outage just after the first PSPS shutdown.
Frontier, that provides land line service in So Hum, has inherited the system that Verizon continued to ignore after having purchased it from Con Tel…none of these companies has upgraded anything, so when the power is down in our areas, the phones die. This isn’t a new thing for us – so, Humboldt Alert doesn’t get through, unless your cell phone works at your residence or you have satellite internet and a generator.
Huh. Our land line, rotary phone worked. Of course, our wifi did not. Didn’t expect it to. But do expect it not to be on the bill.
Better late than never – I used a LOT of att data minutes over the last outage. I wonder if they’ll remember that event as well. This next one is likely to be shorter…
They have also notified me that they are offering the same courtesy to the burn area residents.
Thanks AT&T
It’s time for Verizon to step up…. (Can you hear me now?)
Lol I love that they should
One piece of cheep meat is $10.00 Not all but most try to buy when meat is on sale, now this. Pg&e needs to stand up to their lack of standards
Assholes
PG&E is offering a $100 credit for the October 9 outage ONLY
Why does the signal strength drop during outages? My family uses ATT cell service and during the outages we cannot make calls or access the internet at our home in south Eureka. Our normal 3 or 4 bars of 4G drops to one bar of 4G or no 4G and can only facilitate texts.
A techie friend told us, before the 1st PG&E PSPS, that cel phones would go down because the cel towers use power. Makes sense. But that did not happen. So I don’t know. I do know that my $15 flip phone, which piggy backs on Verizon, had service to whole time.
Suddenlink is pretending like they never had a problem. I waited for a call back for three hours and the rep said they will have their technicians look into it. He said if I wanted to get a bill credit, I would have to call back after my internet and phone was restored. They know full well that nobody will bother.
Side note, hey Kym, am I just sleep deprived or does that headline have an edit needed?
Are you concerned about over age charges? Yes, I think the headline needs an edit. Maybe something like this:
“AT&T ISSUING CREDITS AND WAIVING COVERAGE CHARGES FOR CUSTOMERS AFFECTED BY POWER OUTAGE”
Or
“AT&T PROVIDES OVERAGE CHARGES FOR CUSTOMERS”
What about me in Mississippi? I HAVE NOT had real service for the past 2 months!!!!!!?? I have had to drive down road just to make a damn call…smh
A question to at@t my prepaid plan is terrible here I was getting all bars now I’m only getting 1 an sometime times non why is that
I only am getting 1 bar now an my cellphone was getting all bars why is that I pay alot for this services
I’ve had a lot of trouble on my billing with AT&T since October 2018, having to call in once sometimes twice a month to get charges for one thing or another removed. But this gesture of giving us credit without us all having to call in to request it has almost renewed my faith in them. I’m still considering canceling my service when my contract ends next year after 40 plus years with them. Now I’ll give them one more month to get my bill corrected or I’m gone.
What about DirecTv customers? We deserve the same consideration. Also, the credit has to be for all these outages past, present and future not just one. I would like to know why it will take so long for the credit to show up on our bill’s. Let’s me think you figure we’ll forget about it after that amount of time and not give them.
To bad you dont do your other customers that way
Been having trouble in 76401 for over a month and cant get a straight answer on why
So we had to call to get the credit, and customer service didn’t know what we were talking about. After being passed around, they said the only thing they could do was put us on a higher plan for the month, but we’d have to call at the end of the month to put it back. OK, so we called to put it back, and guess what?!?!? Our plans weren’t available anymore, and because we have combined billing (internet, phone), they kicked us out of both to higher plans — our combined bill went from $182/mo to $240/mo, basically because we took them up on their kind offer to credit data overage during power outage. WOW.
That is horrible. I am so sorry. I suggest you write a letter to the editor explaining what happened.
