Video by Daniel Braden

About 6:45 p.m., a vehicle caught on fire near the First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church at the corner of Sonoma and A Streets in Eureka.

No one was injured.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 9:10 a.m.: According to Daniel Braden, “I heard the sirens and stepped out. The interior of the van was fully engulfed with flames shooting out the back window. I crossed A street to get a better view (also I was too close) and started recording. HBF started spraying before the video started.”

He explained, “The van had been there for the last 4-5 days. The rear flaming window was broken prior to the fire. I remember it was taped up with a black plastic bag…The van wasn’t abandoned. I saw someone chilling in the front seat one morning.”
He sent us these photos from the scene this morning.Burned van
