CR Approve Giving President Flamer Emergency Powers

Keith Flamer President College of the Redwoods
Press release from the College of the Redwoods:
The College of the Redwoods’ Board of Trustees on Monday unanimously approved an emergency measure that provides President and Superintendent Flamer with additional authority to help the college continue to provide educational services to students, especially through remote delivery, during the Coronavirus outbreak.
The measure, approved during an emergency meeting of the board, provides the president with direction to take all appropriate actions to allow the continued education of College of the Redwoods students during the period of emergency proclaimed by Gov. Gavin Newsom earlier this month.
These actions may include the temporary suspension of regulations adopted by the Board of Trustees and the suspension of local rules and regulations that are a barrier to the continuity of educational services.
The college is working with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the California Department of Public Health, and local agencies, as well as Humboldt State University to mitigate the COVID-19 outbreak.
We are preparing to shift to expanded delivery of remote instruction in the coming days and weeks following periods of closure or class suspensions to transition to this approach
