Search and Rescue Teams Came From Far and wide

Leia and Caroline Carrico

Leia and Caroline Carrico

Search and Rescue Teams came from all over California yesterday and today to assist in the search for Leia and Caroline Carrico, two Humboldt County girls that went missing Friday afternoon but were located Sunday morning in the hills about a mile and half from their home..

The teams continued coming in even after the announcement the two girls had been found. Then, they had to turn around and drive home again. Some of the teams told our reporter they drove six or more hours to get to Humboldt.

Our reporter Bobby Kroeker captured as many photos as he could of the Search and Rescue (SAR) teams that came to be part of over two hundred searchers looking for the missing sisters.

Great to see the help. Yet one team of scenting dogs Grant-funded to reside in Humboldt would’ve been 1/1000 of the cost & would’ve found the girls within one hour instead of by stumbling luck two days later & in danger of hypothermia.

WoW and double WoW! Look at so many, many, many selfless people who trucked on into SoHum. Beautiful.
Thank you Bobby Kroeker for the photos. Oh yes, you too Kym —huggles.

Southern Humboldt Search and Rescue, Volunteers of every description, Fire Folks and Sheriff, SHTRT, Police, volunteers, and also everyone out in the world who came together to find the lost girls, Thank you for you efforts! A job well done!

Rescue teams have a difficult job, and although these children were close to home, they had been taught to stay put and shelter.

I sincerely hope that all the adventures in the lives of Leia and Caroline will be wonderful and have good outcomes!

Bobby did this one and he did a great job. I wish he’d seen more of the locals though. Amazing as it is to see everyone coming to help. We depend on the local departments every day.

@Kym, others

Since your site went down I’ve been noticing a lot of comment count issues.

When I load homepage it says there is only 1 comment on this article, but If I click to this articles page, it shows 14 comments.

Similarly the “Say What” section is static and unmoved since yesterday.

The comment count was showing 206 for the Huffman article on homepage, but there was 212 if you click to the articles page.

The comment box also is not “remembering me”.

Anyone else having or noticing this problem?

I just went and looked and the homepage says 14 comments for me. And your comment is the top one in the Say What Section. I think the problem is on your device?

Must be, the timing is just weird.

As soon as I commented, the comment count loaded correctly on the homepage.

This happened last night too. I even typed this similar comment and posted it yesterday (I wonder if it’s in your box).

Actually, the homepage didn’t even show me the found girls update until I saw you linked to it in another posts comment section.

Interestingly, again as I posted that comment yesterday, the homepage loaded correctly, 3 times. So I deleted the comment, saying it must be my device.

On the 4th load it went back to what appears to be a cached version from around your site crash time.

No worries, I’m just explaining it in case anyone else has the issue.

To the chagrin of others, I may need to comment more to stay current!

*So weird. Now I loaded homepage again and it’s back to the cached version with 1 comment displayed on this post.

Kym,

Do you feel like all your normal commentors are accounted for and commenting or are you feeling light?

I’ll bet I know what is happening. As you probably know I crashed yesterday because too many people tried to access the site at once. My internet host is doing some caching to try and keep the site from overloading again.

I think that sounds more likely than my device.

Thanks.

I am also having the same issue, with several of my posts not posting and then when I try to repost it says I’ve already posted them. I’ve had to fill out my name and email address every time. Not that it’s a big deal, but just in case it helps :>)

Kym, fyi:

To me it seemed we were only given web access to cached versions, until I commented.

Once I commented then the page would show me an updated comment count on the updated RHBB homepage.

Then that comment count on homepage would stay static until I commented again, reupdating the count.

Seems ok right now, but that was happening to me through yesterday also.

Still no remembering commentor info.

Just communicating the issue I saw in case it helps.

Best wishes

As the grandparents of these girls we cannot express enough gratitude to everyone who came out to help look for our girls. The outpouring of love and selfless actions were incredible.
Needless to say we are so relieved that our girls, who are our very hearts, are safe and sound at home. Fortunately their wonderful parents have taught them survival skills from the time they could walk (and before).
Hopefully this incident will encourage other parents to do the same.
Once again; thank you EVERYONE who spent their weekend searching, praying and nurturing the searchers, you are all angels!
