Reported Stabbing Victim in Vehicle on West End Road Prompts Multi-Agency Response

Law enforcement responded to a reported stabbing on West End Road on this afternoon, with the Arcata Police Department requested to assist outside its normal jurisdiction.
According to scanner traffic, a code 33, meaning emergency radio traffic only, went out shortly before 2 p.m. in connection with the call. The nature of the call was not immediately known. However, around 2:05 p.m., radio traffic indicated a male subject with a stab wound was located in a purple Chevy vehicle. Responding units were asked to stage near West End Road.
Though the location of the call appears to fall within the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office coverage area, the Arcata Police Department was requested to provide an out of area assist, according to scanner traffic.
Subsequent scanner traffic indicated the victim, a 41-year-old male, was the victim of an assault. He suffered a stab wound to the chest from a 7-inch knife, according to reports from the scene.
Redheaded Blackbelt has reached out to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office for comment on this incident. We have not received a response at this time.

I drove west on Westend…..two white police SUVs were parked at the water park. A light tan vehicle was parked beyond at a turn out, As I continued, I passed 3 police SUVs with lights and sirens….then two more with out lights and sirens.
Returned less than an hour later. Tan SUV was sitting with 4 or 5 police around it. Driver was emptying all his belongings from it.
