Just before 1 p.m. first responders were dispatched to a medical call off New Navy Base Road on the Samoa peninsula for a possible drowning victim.
According to scanner traffic, a 16-year-old male was unresponsive after a near drowning. The male was reported to be out of the water and located near a white Dodge Ram pickup with a utility trailer.
Samoa Fire, Humboldt Bay Fire, City Ambulance, and HCSO were requested to respond to the area. Please use caution if traveling in the area as emergency personnel arrive on scene.
Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.
Update 1:15 p.m.: According to first responders, the victim reportedly had a seizure while in the ocean, falling, apparently, due to the seizure. He is now being transported to an area hospital.

Oh no! I hope he recovers! Poor kid.
Oh man I hope and pray that kid is okay…
I also hope the 16-year-old boy will be fine. Having a seizure in the water could have cost him his life. Get well young man.
