[Update] Motorcycle Crash Impacts Traffic on Highway 299 East of Blue Lake

A motorcycle crash on Highway 299 has slowed traffic in both directions near mile marker 9.5 in Humboldt County.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the crash was reported shortly after 1 p.m. involving a single vehicle. Initial reports indicate the rider is out of the roadway. CHP requested a tow from Buddy’s Towing to clear the scene.
According to Caltrans QuickMap, both eastbound and westbound lanes are impacted, and traffic is moving slowly through the area. Drivers are urged to use caution if traveling on Highway 299 near the crash site.

Update: According to scanner traffic, the cause of the crash is unknown at this time. The rider, a male in his fifties, reportedly lost consciousness temporarily. He is reportedly suffering from minor road rash injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

I hope the rider will be fine even though he was taken to a hospital. Going to the hospital is a smart move because he may have some internal injuries.
