Art in The Gardens Returns to The Mendocino Coast

A celebration of summer blooms and West Coast creativity

 

Summer hits its stride on the North Coast when dahlias explode into color, and the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens open onto sweeping Pacific views. Make it a road trip weekend and join the 33rd annual Art in the Gardens on August 1–2.

Set across 47 oceanfront acres framed by cypress groves and dramatic coastal bluffs, Art in the Gardens brings together art, live music, local food and drink, and the natural beauty that inspires it all.

More than 50 West Coast artists will share handcrafted ceramics, jewelry, paintings, photography, woodworking, fiber arts, glasswork, and more. It is a chance to meet the makers, explore original work, and find something truly one-of-a-kind amid peak summer bloom.

Live music fills the Event Lawn throughout the weekend with performances by Mama Grows Funk, SHUGA, La Onda, and Wendy DeWitt, the “Queen of Boogie Woogie.” On Saturday, CircusMecca returns with its signature aerial performances above the Gardens.

Local food vendors, regional wines, craft beer, and spirits round out the experience, making it easy to settle in and enjoy a full day on the coast.

Beyond the festival atmosphere, you can wander through vibrant dahlia displays, begonias, colorful perennial borders, the organic demonstration vegetable garden, shaded forest trails, and sweeping ocean overlooks. Whether you come for the art, the gardens, the music, or the coastal setting itself, the weekend delivers a memorable summer escape.
