Humboldt Bay Area Plan Planning Commission Workshop on Thursday, July 16
Press release from the County of Humboldt:
The County of Humboldt invites you to participate in the update of the Humboldt Bay Area Plan (HBAP).
The HBAP is a plan that is certified by the California Coastal Commission that establishes policies on how the unincorporated area around Humboldt Bay, and its coastline can be used. It is in the process of being comprehensively updated to address issues including sea level rise, tsunami awareness and land use requirements.
The public draft document was released on June 1 to give the community the opportunity to provide input. It can be found on county’s website at HumboldtGov.org/

If you would like to be part of the discussion on the update of this plan, please consider attending Humboldt County’s Planning Commission workshop on this topic during their regular meeting on Thursday, July 16.
Community members have the option to attend on Zoom or in person at the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors’ Chamber, located at 825 Fifth St. in Eureka. The Planning Commission meeting will start at 6 p.m. and the meeting agenda with more information about the Humboldt Bay Area Plan and workshop can be found on the county’s meeting agenda web page.
Additionally, in response to public comment and feedback received, two additional drafts of the HBAP are available on the county’s meeting agenda web page. One draft shows the proposed changes, so you can see exactly what was revised, while the other is the updated version with the changes included.
Following the workshop, staff will update the plan based on the feedback received.
