[Update: Moderate Injuries] Motorcycle Down on Highway 101 Near Highway 1 Junction

A motorcycle crash was reported Thursday afternoon on northbound Highway 101 near the Highway 1 intersection, according to a California Highway Patrol CAD log.
The incident was reported at 12:56 p.m., with CHP units on scene within minutes. According to the CAD log, the crash occurred on the northbound side of the highway.
Scanner traffic indicated Piercy Volunteer Fire Department and City Ambulance were among the first responders requested to respond. An air ambulance was also ordered.
This is a preliminary report based on scanner traffic and CAD data. Details may change as more information becomes available.
Update 1:20 p.m.: Though a Reach air ambulance had accepted the call for air transport with an estimated arrival time of 2:03 p.m., the incident commander has cancelled the air ambulance request. Instead, one patient, reportedly with moderate injuries, will be transported by ground.
The northbound lane of Hwy 101 may be closed temporarily, at this time, traffic is still flowing. Please use caution in the area.

Thank goodness the rider only had minor injuries from his accident. Thank you, Piercy Volunteer Fire Department, City Ambulance and the CHP. Unfortunately, many times when a rider goes down, he never gets up again.
