Press release from the Humboldt County Prescribed Burn Association:

We’re taking advantage of spring drying, while logs and stumps are still moist, to reduce fuels ahead of wildfire season. This Saturday we’ll be burning 4 acres of tanoak/Douglas fir forest to fire-harden a member’s residence. The location of this prescribed fire is right above where HWY 299 crosses redwood creek. Smoke may be visible from HWY 299, Chezem, Berry Summit and surrounding ridgelines, but will not impact roadways or travel conditions.
