Caltrans is advising motorists that roadwork is currently underway on the Tangle Blue Capital Preventative Maintenance (CAPM) Project along State Route 3 in Trinity County near Coffee Creek and Scott Mountain, with traffic control currently in effect throughout the corridor.

The project stretches from near Coffee Creek to the Siskiyou County line and is designed to improve roadway conditions, drainage infrastructure, and guardrail and bridge facilities along the route. Planned work includes pavement rehabilitation, replacement and repair of culverts, paved drainage ditch improvements, upgraded roadway striping and signage enhancements.

Motorists should expect traffic delays throughout the project area during daytime work hours. Installation of a temporary traffic control signal controlling at Coffee Creek Overflow Bridge is planned for mid-June and will be in place for several months while bridge-related work is completed. Elsewhere within the project limits, motorists may encounter one-way traffic control with a pilot car guiding traffic through active work zones between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Traffic is expected to return to self-guided travel each evening following daily operations.

Additional utility relocation work associated with the project is also ongoing under an encroachment permit and will continue until complete.

Caltrans reminds motorists to slow down in construction zones, remain alert for workers and equipment, and allow extra travel time when driving through the area.
