It should be noted that this road work on Alderpoint Road near post mile 42.1, and the associated delays, will be between 4 and 5 miles South of the intersection of Alderpoint Road and Highway 36 near Bridgeville…

Or thereabouts…

(Don’t let the stock photo confuse you, folks, that photo was taken on Bell Springs Road, just South of it’s intersection with “Road “A” Rd” about a mile North of the now closed New Harris Store…)

Not always…

The mileage increase is north, depending on road direction and also east, for east west roads…

That’s the rule of thumb…

It can vary, depending on circumstances…

Mile markers can either begin, and/or end where two counties meet…

Take Bell Springs Road, for example…

On Bell Springs Road, mile markers increase South in Humboldt, from either Alderpoint road, and/or Old Harris Road…

A bit of confusion ensued when the shortcut was made from the current bell Springs Road/Alderpoint Road junction, in 1964.

Prior to that the junction of Alderpoint Road and Bell Springs Road was at Old Harris…

Old Harris Road was Alderpoint Road prior to 1964.

And mile markers increase North, on Bell Springs Road, from it’s junction with US 101 in Mendocino County…

It all depends on the road…

It not a perfect science…

Alderpoint Road, for the first 24 miles or so, travels east…

So it could be as easily said that Alderpoint Road mile markers increase East…

May 21st, 2026 is on Thursday, not Wednesday…

And the County of Humboldt indicates that the work will take place “through October”
