[UPDATE 5:50 p.m.] Wildfire North of Douglas City in Trinity County

 A camera operated by the ALERTCalifornia network on the Hayfork Divide captured a distant view of smoke rising from the area.

A vegetation fire burning north of Douglas City in Trinity County has grown to an estimated eight acres this afternoon since it started about 4:30 p.m. as firefighters worked to slow its spread through brush and light fuels.

Initial reports described the fire as 1.5 to 2 acres with a moderate rate of spread, moving east toward the top of a hill in light, flashy fuels and brush, according to information shared through the wildfire tracking app Watch Duty. The fire is burning north of Union Hill Road which is north of Douglas City.

By 5 p.m., incident command reported the fire had grown to approximately 3 acres and was moving uphill with several spot fires. Crews requested an additional engine and two hand crews to assist with the response.

At 5:18 p.m., Watch Duty reported that the fire had expanded to about 8 acres, according to incident command.

UPDATE 5:50 p.m.: Watch Duty reports, “There is now a hose lay around the fire and the fire’s size has been updated to approx 10 acres – per Incident Command”

Increased ground level temps. Hunga Tonga aftermath for up to a decade. 10% more water vapor up to stratosphere. And Home Reef is also acting up. No, it’s not CO2.

Just hoping this is not the beginning of a long fire season. With a hose lay completely around the fire there is a very good chance they can snuff it out quickly. I also hope there will be no injuries to the firefighters.
