Three-Vehicle Collision on U.S. 101 Near Tompkins Hill Sends One to Hospital

Traffic CollisionA three-vehicle traffic collision was reported just before 7 a.m. Monday on northbound Highway 101 near the north Tompkins Hill Road offramp, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page. One person is injured. Caltrans QuickMap shows traffic is still moving slowly in the area as of 7:45 a.m.Caltrans Quickmap Screenshot

CHP logs indicate the crash was first reported at about 6:54 a.m. as a two-vehicle collision involving a Mercedes-Benz and a truck. Initial reports state one vehicle was driving erratically—splitting lanes and traveling on the right shoulder—before flipping and colliding with another vehicle.

A tow truck was called for a Mercedes sedan off the roadway with four good wheels and tires, partially on the shoulder and grassy area.

This is a developing story. Information is based on initial CHP reports and may change as more details become available.

Why not tell us your side right here? You’re simultaneously in contact with reporter(s) AND the public.

Hmmm. A truck and a Mercedes. Sounds like a couple of aggressive drivers who are always a joy to share the morning commute with… not. If it’s either one (or both) of the drivers I’m thinking of, I hope their insurance rates skyrocket.

Kind of you to so carefully avoid engaging in stereotyping.

What? You don’t approve of my calling out dangerously aggressive drivers who should have their licenses AND vehicles confiscated? Do you enjoy being tailgated while driving 70-72 mph? Do you like getting the crap scared out of you as they cut you off with inches to spare as they finally pass you? I don’t and I don’t mind pointing out the miscreants who would make the freeway a safer place at 7 am if they just got their lazy asses out of bed a bit earlier and chilled out.

Prius drivers are the worst, I’m highly judgmental based on experience, lol (see my other comment)

Funny enough, we’re such a small area that we know the people who are generally on the road at the same time as us everyday. Err, well their cars anyway.

There is a seafoam prius who used to live in Swains Flat and commute to CR. WHOA, that guy was outta control. I’d see him on 36, practically sideswiping people and wonder when one of us would be his collateral damage. I don’t drive by where it parked in SF years ago, so couldnt tell you if we’re still at risk …

Slow down, people, please.
