[UPDATE 9:52 a.m.] Crash off 101 into Trees North of Willits
A traffic collision was reported around 9:10 a.m. along Highway 101 at mile marker 58.6 north of Willits in northern Mendocino County, when a vehicle left the roadway and went into a creek, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.
CHP logs indicate that one person calling in said the driver was out of the vehicle and walking on the roadway. Multiple agencies were notified, including Cal Fire, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, and CHP units.
By about 9:28 a.m., CHP reported that an outside agency was no longer on scene and that officers were unable to obtain the vehicle’s license plate information. So far they have determined the vehicle is a Toyota Corolla about a 100 feet down the embankment and wedged between trees.
This is a developing story. Information is based on initial CHP logs and may change as more details become available.
