Discover Humboldt: ‘Tide Pools EXPLODING With Life at Agate Beach’
Dock’s latest Discover Humboldt episode gives viewers a look at the “Tide Pools EXPLODING With Life at Agate Beach.” Dock writes:
Today I’m out exploring the tide pools at Agate Beach in Sue-Meg State Park, just outside Trinidad, California in Humboldt County. Even without a perfect low tide, the rocks are absolutely alive—packed with sea anemones, sea stars, crabs, and coastal marine life you normally only see in aquariums.
With a marine layer rolling in, a calm ocean, and fewer people on the beach, this turned into one of those unexpected Northern California coast moments that reminds you why Humboldt is so special. From waterfalls flowing onto the sand to living tide pools camouflaged into the rocks, Agate Beach never disappoints.
Agate Beach is one of the best places in Sue-Meg State Park (formerly Patrick’s Point) to experience California tide pools, especially during cooler months. Whether you’re a local, visiting Trinidad, or planning a Humboldt County trip, this spot offers incredible coastal wildlife viewing year-round.
