Due to a power outage in the Leggett area of northern Mendocino, Leggett Valley Schools will be on a delayed start on Wednesday, November 5.

A representative from the school contacted Redheaded Blackbelt to alert the community of the delayed start, which is estimated to be around one hour, though the exact time will be dependent on power restoration to the Leggett campus. Parents and guardians should be receiving phone calls and/or text messages notifying them of the exact start time as well as an updated bus route schedule.

According to the rep, school staff has been told the power may be on as early as 8:15 a.m. this morning, but the PG&E Outage Map online estimates the power outage will conclude by 1:15 p.m. The map indicates 68 people in the immediate vicinity lost PG&E service around 3:13 a.m. this morning.

Several other areas across Northern California following a storm that brought heavy rain and winds across the area last night.

Update: Due to the prolonged power outage, Leggett Valley Schools remained closed for the day. School has been cancelled for the day.
