Driver Flees North in Southbound Lane of U.S. 101

Vehicle PursuitAbout 8:40 p.m. tonight, law enforcement reported a suspect vehicle, a “gold silver” Chevy sedan, traveling northbound in the southbound lane of U.S. 101. The driver of the suspect vehicle exited the highway at Loleta Drive.

The vehicle is occupied by two individuals.

According to scanner traffic, an officer at the scene stated he was not actively pursuing the vehicle but was attempting to catch up to it.

The officer is BOLOing in the Hookton Drive area for the suspect.

At this time, there is no information on the driver’s identity or why law enforcement was attempting to locate it.

This is a developing story.

Not much of a story to develop if the cops gave up. Pretty poor policemanship

So you would much have the LEO’s risk innocent civilians by engaging in a high speed pursuit in the wrong direction on 101

It doesn’t say they gave up.
In fact, it clearly states that they were attempting to locate it.

Nope. A responsible police officer who was cognizant of public safety, TYVM. I’d rather see a chase canceled than to keep one going when public safety is at risk. I can see the officer in this case pursuing in the correct direction of traffic; in fact, I’d bet that’s how it was known that the driver exited at the Loleta exit.

The fact that they were driving on the wrong side of the highway isn’t enough of indicator as to why the officier was trying to locate the vehicle?? I mean…I’m just putting the two together…lol

Yeah that northbound in the southbound got tacked onto a broken taillight, and possibly a failure to signal a lane change. Developing indeed.

Most likely AFTER they tried to stop the car for another reason they fled the wrong way to avoid being caught. There is little integrity in this town, don’t expect it anywhere in any form, especially if money or a job is on the line.

I believe that trying to locate the suspect vehicle is a good idea, based on the fact of their driving in the wrong direction alone. Isn’t that enough of a reason?
Consequences, people! Getting interrogated by the cops is nothing compared to a head-on.

I’d like to hear them explain the difference between “not actively pursuing” and “attempting to catch up.”

I would guess that activity pursuing is chasing him the wrong way down the highway while trying to catch up is driving code 3 on the correct side of the highway to get ahead of him to cut him off.

One thing worse than a car going to wrong way on the freeway is two cars going the wrong way.

A developing story and speculation and theories show up here as all the keyboard cops know better than the actual guys out there doing the Job. Were you there? Do you have eye witness reports? Do you have anything at all to offer that can reveal the actual circumstances? Step UP instead of stepping in it.
