Two-Vehicle Crash at 14th and E Streets in Eureka Sends at Least One to the Hospital

A traffic collision on 14th Street near E street in Eureka this afternoon has resulted in at least one person being transported to the hospital, and 14th street being blocked as first responders work to clear the scene. [All photos by Ryan Hutson]

A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 14th and E Streets in Eureka blocked traffic in all directions late Monday afternoon. The crash, which involved a red minivan-style vehicle and a black Kia, occurred just south of F Street near the residential corridor.

According to our reporter, Ryan Hutson, who arrived shortly after the incident, 14th Street was blocked from F to E Streets as police directed traffic around the scene. A tow truck was seen removing the red vehicle, and although an ambulance had already transported one driver involved in the collision, Hutson noted that a child and an infant were present in the black Kia but did not appear to be injured.

As of the time of reporting, officers were still on scene and diverting traffic around the crash area. No further details on the condition of those involved or the cause of the crash have been released.

Accidents happen all the time in Eureka. And this one is just another example. I don’t know who was at fault, but I am very happy that the child and infant in the black Kia were not injured. I hope the driver that was transported to the hospital will be fine. People, please keep your eyes open and watch for other vehicles coming at you or entering from a side street.
