Rage in Eureka: Demonstrators Display Dissent and Promote Community Solidarity

Some came with rage, and others came with jokes, but all rallied against “the Regime” along with hundreds of other “Rage” rallies coast to coast.

Yesterday, Eureka was host to another Saturday protest, with roughly 300 community members joining ranks at the county courthouse for the “Rage Against The Regime” rally. As Eureka Police stood by observing the demonstration, all remained peaceful though expressive.

The local protest was promoted by Eureka’s chapter of Food Not Bombs via the 50501 organizing website, as well as on Reddit. Local activists from the group emphasized the critical nature of grassroots organizing, with their representative noting, “We need these different organizations, starting at grassroots level, to come together, put our ideological differences aside and remember what the hell we’re out here for.”

This protest’s name, following previous “No Kings” protests also planned with the help of 50501’s website as an organizing tool, this time references the politically charged rock band from the 90’s – Rage Against The Machine – known for their anti-establishment political messaging, a choice that symbolizes a growing grassroots movement aimed at challenging established political narratives.

The Food Not Bombs activist who helped promote Saturday’s rally highlighted the importance of community support, stating, “We get out here, and thanks to people’s generosity, we’ve been able to fill two sheds full of food, which allows us to, week by week, continue to make hot meals for people and just help lift each other up.”

A Food Not Bombs representative stressed the broader impact of their work, noting they're now "not even feeding just the homeless," but have recently been able to help elderly couples who are unable to have a nice dinner.

“We’re primarily composed of a lot of anarchists and far leftists who feel it’s our job to get out there and give whatever we can get from the community and give it back to the community,” the Food Not Bombs activist explained.

Although smaller than some previous demonstrations organized in recent months, the protest represented a diverse coalition of grassroots organizations united by a shared desire to challenge current political structures and advocate for social justice.

Go to 50501 to see what is being planned next.

A food drive was another success, sign painting was happening on site, and a petition supporting the Fair Elections Act in California was circulating in the crowd.

You’re right, it is. So is TRS. So is cancer. And you’re right, many do need help. You lost me at the lol. If it were your grandma, would you be “laughing out loud” that funding for Medicare got cut? Maybe look up irony again. The protesters, mmm, doesn’t look like that fits the description. Our president saying these things are gonna help everyone, when they are obviously only going to help the well off…hey, what do you know, that fits the definition perfectly!

My grandma had a legitimate Medicare account. She wouldn’t have had to worry about it being cut. Eliminating fraud, waste and corruption helps everyone but those benefitting from fraud, waste and corruption. If I were part of that demographic I wouldn’t be drawing attention to myself by squawking about it in public.

No, but they’ve been put through the Liberal meatgrinder for four hard years. Funny how, even though nearly twice as many billionaires donated to Kamala over Trump, and she outspent him three to one, y’all keep going on about being the party of the working and lower classes. Meanwhile, even some of your paid protestors are Conservatives. They’re just taking your money to get the inside scoop on your grift.

Well, they had a “Rock Festival” in Kelseyville, at the same time, and the “Reggae Festival” in the usual bad location, so the “Fundraisers” are still in charge…

The most entertaining part of these “Protests” is the eclectic focus on the general state of affairs, which hasn’t really changed all that much since “Slick Willie” and his sexy agenda items…

Except for the used cars, which are apparently now all “collector’s items”…

In my opinion, you should not drag out an aging band, which lost half its original members in 1968, and call it by its original name, new singer and all, but they sounded like professional musicians, which most of these clowns do not…

All in all, a weak effort, but one that probably should have some attention paid…

Soon it will be obvious, there are only two types of Americans, those who took the money and the rest of us, may everyone who took their money make peace wirh the idea the whole truth is on the way. We will never forget who suffer under the artificial dominance of sterile ideas which create no new potential, exist ti divide us and prevent America from being what it could be, for the continued benifit of arguably the worsts nation on earth. Rest assured folks, insurance companies and banks will continue to have their way with you, while the masses of homeless continue to swell, as your roads bridges and power infrastructure continue to fall apart, and the futures of your children are squandered. Ukrain is just another part of the greater land theft project, its the same goal, the war will be over when all the Christians are dead, just like Syria, like Lebanon, like Armenia, this isn’t a new thing is actually old as sin itself. Luckily I have read the books, they will lose in the end but it costs the rest of us everything. Willing to pay in full to dance on their memorial.

Funny enough, we probably agree on more issues than not. Unfortunately the wedge issues people tend to focus on are polarizing.

Of course I cannot explain why, but apparently they do. Probably something about divide and conquer. Yes, those in power do in fact conspire to stay there … to believe otherwise is folly.

Well, now I know the next reply will be moving on from that excuse to another one. Likely, again without any evidence. But why bother with evidence, right? Like, having multiple felonies, that’s evidence. We certainly don’t want to talk about that, do we? 🙄 Or, maybe we do, maybe it’s the basis even, for the next excuse 🙄

We do but then you might be expected to listen and we all know that wouldn’t happen.
” For Trump to be prosecuted for felony violation of falsifying business records, the statute requires the DA to prove not only that Trump is guilty of falsifying business records (a misdemeanor), but that he did so with the intent to commit “another crime,” or aiding or concealing the commission of “another crime.”

So what was the “other crime” needed to be proven for Trump to be charged with felonies instead of a misdemeanor? “”Any two or more persons who conspire to promote or prevent the election of any person to a public office by unlawful means and which conspiracy is acted upon by one or more of the parties thereto, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor,” New York Law 17-152 reads. ” when the candidate is the one doing the promoting.

And there is it. What changed what is normally a misdemeanor into a felony, the other “crime” was to attempt to “influence an election.” IE politics. If that were really a crime, every politician in the US should be convicted.

Adding to that the notoriously published Judge’s instruction to the jury, when they couldn’t figure out how this crime was commmitted, that told them they did not have unanimously agree as to how Trump did it. “Although you must conclude unanimously that the defendant conspired to promote or prevent the election of any person to a public office by unlawful means, you need not be unanimous as to what those unlawful means were.”

The case was spun into so many knots of logic, the Judge needed to cut them with his not-so-blind sword of justice like Alexander used his sword on the Gordian knot. Trump was convicted because he paid a bribe to a prostitute to keep her allegations to herself which would not have been a crime at all if he was not running for office and signed the papers in NY. If he had not been, there would have been no other crime as a mutual non-disclosure agreement is not even a crime at all. Paying off a prostitute is not a crime. It’s unlikely this would have ever survived the appeals. If you can’t smell the political stink, it’s only because you have chosen to hold your nose. But go ahead keep calling what is a real life farce an excuse.

[Editor’s note: unless someone’s physical condition is relevant to what they are doing ie a police officer, being weighed for rocket fuel calculations, filling in as ballast on a 19th-century schooner, or posing as a life-sized replica of a bronze statue in the town square, …then their weight isn’t relevant here. They could spend $100 billion less and address a lot of issues that immediately affect people. You could base state-level aid like the Electoral College does with population and representation, with more going towards shoring up disadvantaged communities (OMG! Is that DEI-speak??) and STILL have a very, very dominant military. And a hell of a lot more folks that might be on your side because you kept to the promise of “Give us your tired, poor and hungry..” found at the Statue of Liberty.

Yabut

It’s real telling that you conflate the electoral college’s function of preventing the tyranny of large population centers popular vote advantage from overwhelming any meaningful participation of smaller populations with taking everyone’s taxes and giving it to arbitrarily designated collectives of those who likely don’t pay taxes and want to keep it that way.

The first incentivizes participation while the second incentives status quo. The campaign to keep out jobs or education out of an area, or at least hide it, lest it puts the funding of being “disadvantaged” at risk would be a cottage industry.

It was a suggestion, not a personality test. You can keep the unicorn. It implied no political flavor other than a method of equity and need. Those who are more affluent should get less aid, if any at all. Same goes for the largest metro areas; they have the lion’s share of money already and should be adept at fixing their own issues, rather than rely on government. The rest of us, however, aren’t so prosperous, and many folks never will be. Just like democracy, don’t you think? If you don’t participate you don’t get any? And there will always be those that use it to their advantage, and our disadvantage, but you don’t give up on the system as a whole. That would be silly.

if you are a conservative and recognize what’s happening to this country , where does the military industrial complex deserve phallus worshipping status!?

how many broken men and women and Hollywood movies does it take to desensitize a satanic death cult masquerading as a noble pursuit!?

retired military men are absorbed into the system that trained them, and they are used like blunt force instruments of trauma.

what your experience with the military give to you!?

are you aware of the current state of affairs that exist in this world, in this country, and even in this state?

why do we have Asian communities?
why do we have African communities
why do we have middle eastern communities?
why do we have Central American and South American communities?

because our military was used as a tool of power and greed and sent soldiers into these countries to prevent the will of the people in those countries from realizing a prosperous national economy…instead our military was used to protect resource extraction and control the peaceful people

was the end goal to destabilize grass roots all over the world and then encourage migration to the United States where they have NO ANCESTAL TIES TO THE LAND, and are used as a wedge against the native born populations?

how does it feel to worship a death cult!?

im sorry buddy, but your whole concept of hoorrah for the flag that has been used to create so much destruction and wealth consolidation the world over.

City of London, England banking capital of the world!

Vatican City, Rome, Italy Religious Capital

You think real American patriots don’t keep an eye on these pathetic outcasts and their dangerous online rhetoric? I peruse the anarchist forums. Most are ready to commit illegal acts and hurt people at any time. These are psychopaths. Yet you have no problem giving them free publicity. Three hundred losers by the courthouse is nothing, but it only takes one crazy to shoot up a Christian school, for instance. You’d probably give Audrey Hale a pat on the back….
Enough is enough, lady!

Protests are news. Don’t read the news if you don’t want to get news. People are interested so we cover them.

Given how unhinged and detached from reality this comment is,
I think it’s safe to assume he doesn’t read the news or want to get the news.

I wouldn’t doubt that there are a few talk shows he fancies, though.

I can think of at least a dozen potential headlines that are more relevant than this baloney. The fentanyl crisis for instance or the fact that average citizens can’t afford to have children. Real issues impacting everday americans

declining health
declining purchasing power
declining life span
declining home ownership
declining family formation
declining morality
declining civility

these headlines represent a mirror held by the beholder

If only we could make this report mandatory reading for California’s economically illiterate Governor and Legislature… a girl can dream.

Well, guess what? Eat what’s on your plate or don’t eat at all. That goes for headlines.

It’s like the old “chicken or egg” thing. Do the protesters attract the news reporter or does the news reporter attract the protesters? Or maybe a “if a tree falls in the woods” zen thing. If a protest happens on the courthouse steps and no one is there to report on it, does it have a point?

I just wish the artistic sign was less- well- racially exaggerated. This just might have to be de-Dr-Suess’d. Maybe if it addressed something more substantial than hating Trump? Like points that really need thoughtful attention rather than fandom? Like can the negatives of illegal immigration be addressed with devolving into hateful obstruction or can a way be found to stop the Gaza horrors with aligning with either side’s genocidal dreams?

This article was reassuring though. Though the headline was said “Rage”, it was much less “rage-y” than that would lead one to believe. Especially the part “Although smaller than some previous demonstrations organized in recent months, the protest represented a diverse coalition of grassroots organizations united by a shared desire.” It’s good to see local businesses supporting local businesses.

Protests are such old news. Protests where the protester photo clarifies important issues like “golf cheat” are what it’s all about! I’m thinking the courthouse protesters in Humboldt County are more like demonstrators of late mid-life crisis syndrome. The guys in Humboldt don’t buy “sports cars”, they prefer a fixed up VW Bus from the 1960’s-70’s to go camping in! The women are busy explaining to anyone that will listen that they were SDS members and know how to protest. These gals like a deeper purple hair-color to stay in touch with the younger gals and like minded Boomers. They are also steadfast members of “Book Club” get-togethers where if you go against the standard left leaning group-think, you will be subjected to “amicable but condescending” remarks! They model this to their children – those are the younger people at the courthouse protest.

I don’t agree with much of their protest. Feeding people though- any people- is a good and respectful thing. And I got a respect their right to protest- even if I disagree with their position. This is America! We all have that right to get out and protest for what we like or don’t like. And then we are all still neighbors looking out for each other….

IDK about the ” we are all still neighbors looking out for each other” part. Too many schadenfreuden in the country rejoice at any harm coming to others.

Performative exhibitionism, virtue signaling, and has no effect on anything or anyone outside of their own bubble. Just runs up overtime for the cops. Idiots.

Grandma and mom to gen-z daughter (or whatever the latest stereotype is?): uh, you ARE coming to the courthouse protest! Daughter: do I have to, I want to stay home and finish sewing my new outfit. Grandma: I don’t understand these kids these days?

It’s so crazy watching these discussions. Trump, billionaires, lots of democrats, all sorts of rich folk must just sit back and laugh. Why does it even have to get this deep. I could care less if it’s trump or someone else. Do any of you honestly think having even 1 felony should be A-OK on the checklist to be president? How about giving news presenters, lawyers, and rich billionaires, the opportunity to serve in top level government with no prior experience. Do you teach your children that these things should be ok? That they shouldn’t have the right to only have people with experience make the laws that control them? It’s like, forget about stranger danger, now it’s stranger, yeah well as long as they’re wearing maga hats you can totally trust them 🤦🏻

The bad news is the good news!
you get one vote , and that’s it.

or you can learn from the people in c
harge of the world we live in, and become a well off pawn of the management class, or you can try to herd fuckin cats, dogs, cattle, etc

do people truly have blinders on?

do they still hold on like bitter clingers to that

which they sacrificed NOTHING for?

lots of adolescent adults refusing to acknowledge or accept the world they live in.

i find is disturbing that people are so ignorant and apathetic, and at this point I dont blame the ruling class for looking at how pathetic people are for playing into the system that is extracting every bit of human energy you have.

they say it’s voluntary, and it’s been clear for a very long time that no one is held accountable for what we willing sign on to.

red team cucks
blue team cucks.

controlled demolition with our tax dollars and we blame strangers that have never been held accountable.

How is it I heard NOTHING about this protest before it occurred??!!? Their ‘Diverse coalition’ of groups involved none that I am connected with to notify allies (email for me is best) in the community. Come on now. You gotta do a better job!

Jed, MAHA banned thymerisol (Mercury) from vaccines last week. Bummer, huh. Not.

Thank you RFK jr.

And, the raging grannies have another topic to protest, keeping Mercury in Vaccines.

Good luck with that.

It’s called y’all in a box canyon and there is no escape. . Derp, da, derp, “imagine all the hippeas, actually realizing they mean nothing today, eh, eh, oh, oh,……..”. Yep.

Note: hippeas versus hippies. 🍉 🦨 .

Thimerosal has been banned in at least children’s vaccines since 2001. RFK Jr appointed a new Director of the CDC last week.

RFK Jr didn’t come up with this himself, so don’t give him any hero status. It was a board decision by people far more experienced and knowledgeable in such matters than he is; he merely OK’d the ACIP recommendation to remove Thimerosal . It’s also not new. Europe removed mercury from vaccines years ago.

“This move follows a 5-1 vote at the ACIP’s June 25-26 meeting at CDC headquarters in Atlanta, where committee members voted that all children 18 years and younger, pregnant women, and adults receive only single-dose influenza vaccines free of mercury.”

Really, nobody was saying to keep mercury in them, so don’t act like he just saved the world. Are you sure these “protest G’mas” that you say support it haven’t all been dead for 50 years already?
