[Update: In Patrol Status] Flint Fire Sparks East of Garberville, Draws Air and Ground Response
Just before 3 p.m. today, July 17, 2025, fire personnel were dispatched to the report of a vegetation fire east of Garberville in the area of Dyerville Loop Road.
A full wildland fire response was issued for the reported wildfire dubbed the Flint Fire. Multiple CAL FIRE engines, along with local volunteer departments from Garberville, Redway, and Miranda were requested along with two hand crews, a dozer, and multiple aircraft.
The Flint Fire was initially reported as a 1-acre wildfire burning near the 27000 block of Dyerville Loop Road, nearest cross of Ross Road. However, the first plane over the fire reports that the fire is approximately 1/4 acre burning in timber under power lines.
Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.
Update 3:10 p.m.: Both CAL FIRE tankers were released from the incident, fully loaded, according to Air Attack 651.

hearing them come back again right now (3:24 pm)
Onlooker, are you saying they are returning to where the fire was, or headed home?
It looks like there is now a second, nearby fire. (Grove fire).

we are once again hearing a lot of fire plane activity (5:16 pm) some heading ESE (in the general direction of the Dyerville Loop fire) and some heading WNW as in back toward base. We live near the flight path and fire planes have a distinctive sound.
Just saw the air tanker and air attack headed toward Rohnerville, a little before 4 o’clock. Seems less smoky than yesterday, at least in Carlotta.
Great job firefighters for jumping on that small fire and putting it out. Thank you to CAL FIRE, Garberville Fire Department, Redway Fire Department and Miranda Fire Department.
