Body Identified as Missing Albion Man

Daniel salmondThe Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body discovered Tuesday in the Albion area is that of Daniel Jay Salmond, a 72-year-old man reported missing last week.

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office identified Salmond after notifying his legal next-of-kin. Search and Rescue teams located his body around 11:38 a.m. on March 4, following a four-day search effort involving multiple agencies.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday, but officials said the cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending further forensic examination. At this stage, investigators do not suspect foul play.

Salmond was reported missing on March 1, prompting an extensive search that included teams from Mendocino, Marin, Sonoma, Lake, Humboldt, and San Mateo counties, as well as specialized search organizations such as California Search and Rescue (CALSAR), the California Rescue Dog Association (CARDA), and the Bay Area Mountain Rescue Unit (BAMRU). The California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) and the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) also contributed to the search efforts.

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to all assisting agencies, as well as to Slam Dunk Pizza in Ukiah and Harvest Market in Fort Bragg for providing meals to the more than 100 searchers involved.

Sounds like all those search and “rescue” types had a pretty good party.

‘There but for the grace of God go I”. Kudos to all for this heroic effort in rough terrain and inclement weather.

I am pleased that Mr. Salmond was finally found after an extensive search by many wonderful people. But it sure made me hurt when I learned he had perished. I am sending my most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Danield. May he RIP. I pray God will give you all the strength and love to help you through the most difficult time in your lives.

To the person that gave me a red thumbs down on my comment about Mr. Salmond, you do not have a heart, soul or spirit. People like you just waste our air. Maybe the day will come, and the wonderful searchers will find you perished. If it was me, I would leave you to rot. That is not a kind thing to say but it is my feelings at this time! I see you nailed Zipline for his nice comment.

I realize this press release is from a government agency, and government employees don’t have the best of reputations as far as work ethics and accuracy is concerned, which is why President Donald J Trump is cleaning up the federal workforce ranks, but this portion of the release doesn’t make sense to me: “The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office identified Salmond after notifying his legal next-of-kin.”

Positive identification of the decedent should have been made BEFORE contacting his legal next of kin.

“Hey, we got a dead body here! We’re letting you know in case he turns out to be your relative! Go have a beer or something and we’ll get back to you!”

They should have wrote “publicly identified”, as in they released his name to us.

Federal Agency. A federal agency did not write this . Liberal Lunacy has an idiotic manner of expression.
