The AP has some really interesting graphics on the change from last election. You can look at counties by state as well as a graphic that breaks down state voters into fifths by party preference. It’s crazy to see how nearly every county (including heavily blue counties) as well as how the whole overton window of partisan voting shifted right on this election.
People were apparently extremely unimpressed with the Harris/Walz pitch.
Yet, Kamala got roughly 20 million less votes than Biden did in 2020. Where did those 20 million (D)‘s go this time around? Lends more credibility about the last election being rigged; because those previous numbers the (D)‘s cast in 2020, just never materialized this election round.
There’s about 20 million total fewer votes tallied so far, but there’s another 10+ million to be counted.

California’s laws might be difficult and annoying to everyone, myself included. I run heavy equipment, commercial trucks and many, many small two stroke motors for my business. But I see the common sense in weaning off of an energy source that is bound to run out, and is only getting more expensive as time goes on. It will never get cheaper. So let’s start figuring out the next step. I want to pass my business on to my kids. Drill baby drill doesn’t make sense to me for the long term.
Yet CA and Newsom will continue to oppress the working people here. Our gas prices will always be $1.40 to $2 more than the rest of the country. Our working poor are expected to pay for all the “wonderful projects” our government “servants” can dream up in meetings and luncheons….and it will be presented as CA being “morally superior”.
That’s because the oil corporations set their prices, not the government; the government just tacks on a few cents in taxes. Every year they make more profits than any industry in the history of the world.

I would hope the lesson from this election is that there is a limit to the percentage of the population that you can insult, attack or bully before they start objecting back. Fact remains, California has an abundance of red counties, and the tide is turning everywhere, including Humboldt. I was (coincidentally ) in Mc’ville on Saturday and witnessed the “Trump parade.” That town was LIT! ?????? ? I don’t have a pony in this race, and could not care less, but I did find their enthusiasm impressive. And it’s that kind of good old fashioned American pride and values that are sweeping across our country. People are pissed, and the left just got a big fat wake-up call.
We don’t have a final count from the election board yet, but I just updated with the results from late last night. (see attached) Even if you want to discount the majority of the county’s votes in favor of this odd metric which ignores the votes of people like me who mailed in our ballot, Harris vote percentage is nearly the same as Trump’s. There is a very slim margin between them–less than 100 votes. There is no “radical flipping to the right.”

@NoBS, election results often take longer than expected to finalize, especially when there are high numbers of mail-in or absentee ballots. After Election Day, officials need time to process and verify these ballots, which ensures accuracy but naturally slows down reporting.

A prime example is how both major parties have abandoned unions, which used to provide real support for working-class Americans. One of the most frustrating trends right now is how many people are blaming the “uneducated” for the state of the country. If you’re skilled at a trade and work with your hands but didn’t burden yourself with $50,000-$100,000 in student debt, you’re often looked down upon. Your needs don’t matter to the Democrats. Meanwhile, we have a surplus of highly educated individuals struggling to find jobs that even pay enough to cover their student loans. College has turned into a big business, but there simply aren’t enough jobs for all those graduates. The demand, however, is for manual labor, which is still vital to our economy. And yet, in the eyes of many, especially within the Democratic Party, you get a message like skilled trades are beneath and less worthy that college education. You don’t deserve the good pay even though you have years of experience to learn those trades. Then we get to hear shit like “sex work is real work” and watch while young women sell themselves online so corporations can make money by being their pimp and we call it feminism. In actuality that’s commoditizing women’s bodies but we prefer that still to a man or woman working with our hands??? The narrative being presented to us is dumb and untrue. This is a serious problem that doesn’t get nearly enough attention. Other developed countries seem to value the trades and lives of those workers far more than we do here.

The biggest employers of illegals in our area are pot growers and restaurants and janitorial services. Maybe dairies but they are not so common. All, not because they are rich but because hard working affordable labor is hard to find. Mostly not rich people but people servicing rich people. And no one much cares whether they use illegal labor or not.

One thing I found surprising is that Joel Salatin, a world-renowned regenerative farmer, was just offered a position with the USDA. This is a man who refers to FDA and USDA regulators as the “food police” and champions freedom of choice and risk when buying eggs, dairy, and meat from independent producers. If we truly want to reform the food system, this could be a significant step forward. Imagine buying your chicken from your neighbor and accepting the risk of it not being processed by one of the few USDA-approved facilities. If “safe” means meat dipped in bleach/fecal water, which accounts for about 20% of its weight post-processing, I’d personally prefer my neighbor’s animal. Breaking up the food monopolies would be beneficial, strengthening our local economies. Less regulation would mean people would need to identify good producers themselves. “Know your farmer” would become an essential concept.

Many young people yes are primed for instant gratification and materialism (blame that on the prior generation and the one before and the one before..as the reactive pendulum swings) AND ALSO many young people have seen first hand hard work lead to nothing but despair and exhaustion.
I work and worked myself to the bone. The least the staffing companies who sent me a 10k bill could do was send competent workers. Instead I got a man who didn’t want to get his jeans dirty and weeded one blade of grass at a time from my beds and some sweet girls who couldn’t lift a wheel barrow of compost. ( I wish I was joking about the cool jeans guy but I’m not) It was depressing to watch and a waste of money. I needed help and people who were worth $25/hr. I’ve worked my ass off in farms around the county since I was 16 never in my life did I expect the shit labor that was provided to us when we were desperate. Dark staffing is hit or miss and kids these days don’t know how to work because we keep telling them college is the only option. So yeah I would rather hire actual farm workers (migrants or not) and give them protections because it is a skilled job.

1) I don’t want him or anyone else to be president for life. Neither does anyone else. That’s why we don’t have a monarchy or dictatorship in the US.
2) I think the 2028 election will be filled with candidates of multiple political parties and will continue the process of our constitutional representative democracy.

Sorry bro. I don’t own property, but am saving to be a first time home owner and I voted no on every bond measure. These big ticket items should be included in the general fund budget and we should vote for politicians that can actually follow a budget and stick to it. I don’t think you should have to own property to participate in voting, but maybe there should be a clause that prevents non homeowners from voting on projects that increase property taxes. That seems like taxation from those without “skin in the game.”
Was a time when homesteading was a thing and shooting whomever lived there already was a thing. Maybe we go back to that.
I hear that, unfortunately my largest costs of business as a farmer are fuel and property taxes. I know I will be passing the price increase in my property taxes on to the general public, and all the other farmers will have to as well. Margins are so tight in this business there really is no choice. So the voters of Humboldt county have also increased the cost of their own food next year as well.
Am I the only one that notice the amount of mail-in votes that toppled everything else? Like double the amount of mail-in votes for president? Double the amount of mail-in votes for senator? Almost all of them were double the amount of mail-in votes democratic side.

Ask yourself this: why are all the red states the ones that require voter id? There is a completely UNPROVEN amount of cheating in CA. I think the Humboldt County office of Elections runs a clean and tight ship- however- if the state does not require voters to prove they have a legal right to vote, then how do we know all the votes that are cast in our state are actually legal? I could literally register my cat and my seven chickens to receive a ballot. The difference between me and my liberal neighbors: I have moral aptitude. People like me support a moral society. Hence the protests against mandatory vaccinations, drag shows for kids, and policies that support and condone the mutilation and manipulation of our children when it comes to their gender identity.
