On Monday, July 29 at 3:24 A.M., the Arcata Fire District was alerted to a residential structure fire on the 3000 block of Alliance Rd.
The first of Arcata Fire’s engines arrived on scene to find a manufactured home on McCallum Circle fully involved with heavy fire showing out of the two front-facing windows.
Dispatch had noted a possible victim trapped inside the building, however the single resident arrived home while fireground actions were taking place.
The two remaining Arcata Fire engines arrived to finish the extinguishment of the building, and no occupants were found inside.
Firefighters encountered many obstacles in the home due to an accumulation of possessions which made entry to the residence challenging.
The cause of the fire is suspected to be a space heater that was left on and unattended.

Arcata Fire would like to extend our gratitude to mutual aid partners Blue Lake Fire, Humboldt Bay Fire and Westhaven Fire who all assisted with overhaul.
Arcata Fire would like to remind residents not to leave space heaters on and unattended.

This does not look like a manufactured home– there is no skirting and it’s sitting on a concrete pad. It is in a manufactured home park, but is one of the two stick-built homes on the property.
They should be charged for being a horder and putting firefighters at risk. Get rid of your garbage
and you get the silver foil star next to your name for being so compassionate in your comment (sarcasm) and an award button to wear that says “i’m a self righteous superior df”. congratulations! you deserve it! do you know this person? were you there? do you know the contents of their home or why it was the way it was? they just lost everything! may you never come under such horrible scrutiny and verbiage in your dark times of need as you seem to think you have the right to spew!!
Glad no one was hurt. People don’t seem to know how dangerous space heaters can be in a cluttered space
