can they sue? i don’t remember any disclaimers….
Is this at the bridge?
In the “Update” it states “A helicopter has landed at Miranda’s South Fork High School”. However in the article it states, “over the embankment towards the Eel River near Hwy 101 and Miranda.” I thought it was the South Fork of the Eel River?
Taken by ambulance presumably to helicopter at school. 1/2 mile north of French road on Maple Hills is btw 101 and the river….we take Maple Hills to go up into Salmon Creek. Could be someone I know. ….
Who drives a Hyundai? Hope whoever it is, is safe and not badly injured.
It is the South Fork of the Eel River. Note “OF THE EEL RIVER.” It’s all the same watershed. There’s an East branch, a West branch, a main fork and a mainstem and many hundreds of tributaries. The South Fork joins the mainstem a number of miles north. This incident took place between Maple Hills Road exit and the Salmon Creek exit of 101. North of that stretch of 101, Maple Hills Road runs parallel to the river and the highway. I happened to be driving along there this morning and noticed an emergency vehicle with lights flashing right in that area so I can reassure you of the location. Kinda seems that as a longtime resident/now gone away, as you so frequently inform us, you’d be aware of that, in which case I kinda wonder if you’re just looking for a nit to pick.
“It’s all the same watershed.”
No, the South Fork of the Eel River is it own watershed:

Since when? It’s the same 3000 sq. mile drainage/watershed. You have forks, branches, mainstem, and it all comes out on the coast near Loleta. South Fork of the EEL. Separate watershed? Doesn’t wash.
Is the river that flows by Garberville & Redway, the same river that flows by Alderpoint? Its a yes or no question!
You used to live here Ed, you either know better and are trolling or you are slipping away
I grew up on the South Fork of the Eel River, K thru 12 and when I attended “South Fork” High School in Miranda, it was the “South Fork” of the Eel, nobody ever called it the Eel River, because it is not, because we knew better…
“ ‘South Fork’ of the Eel.’ “. Your own words. Give it up. It’s OK. We love you and the Eel River, all of its vast watershed.
I sincerely pray that the person being extracted will be fine. Why would the CHP Information Page say that they may not be injured when the person will be put in an ambulance and taken to South Fork High School where a Medvec chopper has landed. Just confusing to me.
My guess is that the person reported to emergency personnel that they were uninjured and because they were inside the vehicle, they couldn’t be checked out well. After they were extracted, injuries were located. Or possibly after the shock wore off the patient, they reported pain. But that is just speculation.
Thanks for the information as always Kim.
Could also be that a medical condition was the reason for driving off the road as well so adverse medical condition without injury is a possibility
You are absolutely correct friend.
