With the construction that’s going on at the 299/101 interchange, the area is dangerously congested.

The construction is complete , just careless driving , looks like a circus most of the time at that stretch of roadway through Arcata

Hi, my name is Trevor. I just wish to extend my apologies for today’s incident. I am the one that was driving the black Honda. No, it was not stolen. No, I was not joyriding. The vehicle that I had just been gifted was undergoing the steps to become legally mine. As a 31 year old man, this was my first car. It had 375,000 miles on it. It had faulty steering and the brakes had gone out. I was wearing a seatbelt and praying that I could simply cross the bridge to the Family Resource Center to collect some food as I wait for my new food stamps. I hadn’t anticipated the brakes going out and I could not steer or stop. Someone almost died today. I’m grateful that nothing terrible happened. I’m open to advice and anyone reaching out with concerns or our they feel they need to say anything to me, I’ll listen. Thank you for hearing me. My apologies again.

Hi Trevor! That’s pretty brave stepping up and claiming the accident. But maybe don’t say too much- our system now has a habit of penalizing honest people. I’m glad everybody was okay! I drove some really crappy cars held together with duct tape and baling wire but I was lucky to have a mechanic cousin. He always said that no matter what you think you can get away with you have got to make sure the brakes work. You gotta be able to stop. I wish I knew you yesterday so I could have said that to you. Yeah- steering is pretty important too but the brakes- never go cheap on brakes…

I admire your honesty but strongly recommend you don’t post anything on social media or say anything in public until you consult an attorney.
