[UPDATE 4:46 p.m.] ‘Hill Fire’ in Willits Engulfs Trailer and Spreads to Wildland

A rapidly spreading fire dubbed the “Hill Fire” has engulfed a trailer and ignited nearby vegetation in the 800 block of East Hill Road in Willits.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene to find the trailer fully involved in flames, with the fire spreading to the surrounding wildland. Thankfully, officials report the fire is growing at a slow rate of spread.

The blaze quickly escalated to pose an imminent threat to a nearby structure, but when asked if a full wildland fire response was necessary the Incident Commander assured dispatch his fire crews were quickly gaining control of the wildland fire and requested a couple of engines from CAL FIRE.

UPDATE 4:46 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported the vegetation fire is contained and firefighters are now focusing their efforts on the structure fire.

That was the mobile home right down below my house. Vegetation fire was grass leading out to the Orchard. Thank goodness the Little Lake Fire Department got here and started working on the fire, that was seriously close to the Propane tank. Thankfully everyone was out of the mobile before the fire department arrived. It could of been a lot worse. Thankyou so very much to the firefighters getting on top of the situation fast!!
