A host of first responders have been dispatched to a head-on collision on Highway 101 north of Miranda around 1:45 p.m. on July 3. Miranda Fire, Myers Flat Fire, Redway Fire, Southern Humboldt Technical Rescue, and City Ambulance have been requested. An air ambulance has been ordered on stand-by.

According to scanner traffic, two vehicles collided head on in the northbound lane of Highway 101 just south of the Salmon Creek exit. Dispatch informed responding units that four patients are involved between the two vehicles.

Extrication for one or more occupants is required, according to emergency dispatch. A nurse at the scene of the collision reported that four involved parties needed medical attention. The CHP log states that at least one of the involved parties has suffered major injuries.

The CHP Traffic Incident Information page stated the first report of the collision came in at 1:38 p.m. and lists the two vehicles involved as a white sedan and a silver sedan; the white sedan is reportedly blocking the roadway. The #2 lane of both southbound, and northbound, Highway 101 are reportedly closed due the collision. Tow trucks are en route.
