Honoring Memorial Day: A Tribute to Fallen Soldiers

As we gather on this solemn Memorial Day, we at Redheaded Blackbelt extend our deepest gratitude to the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Today, we honor their memory and reflect on their courage, dedication, and the profound impact of their service.

In Flanders Fields
By John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Mourn the losses. Yes. And remember that most of our strong, capable ,‘patriotic’ youth have been exploited for wars that were not necessary to protect US! The many service people killed and injured is a crime. All in the name of ‘leaders’ who support the military industrial complex, companies who seek profits other nations have, and merchants of death.
We have lost or limited so many good youth who would have gone on to make great contributions to this nation. That’s what I am mourning today.

They believed in what they were doing and knew the consequences. No telling what the contributions 63 million of our “youth” would have brought this nation over the last 50 years.

They believed it because they only heard one side of the story. The pro-war POV is the norm in this war-prone country. If they had met with veterans who have served and seen, been part of the horrors, left questioning their involvement, I believe that many recruits would not so happily participate.

Support our troops by choosing to not send them to fight wars of intervention and corporate adventure.
