300 Pounds of Unlicensed Marijuana Seized During Traffic Stop South of Willits

cannabis crime feature photoOn November 9, 2023, at approximately 11:23 a.m., a silver Dodge Ram hauling an enclosed trailer was pulled over for speeding on Hwy 101, just south of the Ridgewood Scales near Willits. What initially appeared to be a routine traffic stop soon turned into a bust for marijuana.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer discovered in the enclosed trailer approximately 300 pounds of unprocessed marijuana, all lacking the necessary licensing and documentation.

Olegario Marin, the CHP spokesperson, said, “The driver Carlos Sanicrenoj of Ukiah was cited and released with a complaint to be filled for 11360(a)(2)H&S, 11359(b)H&S, 11358(c)H&S.”

The seized marijuana, once referred to as the “green gold” of the cannabis industry, has been confiscated as evidence. The investigation has been transferred to the Mendocino Major Crimes Task Force and the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC).

Dodge Ram pulling an enclosed trailer southbound on 101 in November.

In the 70s, an ounce of worthwhile pot from Humboldt or Mendocino cost the same as an ounce of gold.

That was the case in the early 90s as well. The people I know who amassed the most wealth in cannabis did a lot of work in that era

It’s usually the 2023 Range Rover, dented body panels, never washed once leaving the showroom floor, Bob Marley stickers plastered on the windows.

Ram 2500 — the drivers of these trucks have a DUI rate almost 3 times the national average and are far and away the most frequently used vehicles by drunk drivers. The cops know this and so are going to pay a lot more attention to any traffic violations they see Ram trucks commit.

That is what the cops said when I got popped also. I was not. They just wanted to stop and search. My word against 2 cops lying in front of a judge friend of theirs, no jury for that motion – I didn’t stand a chance…and they know that trick, believe me….

That’s a bummer. If you are pulling a trailer, speed limit is 55MPH. Don’t be dumb.

Edit: I also found the “green gold” comment to be strange. It felt…. forced.

I saw that pull over by the way. Trailer doors open & it was full of black totes with yellow lids. Lol. Are those totes ever used for anything other than weed? I don’t think so.

They perfectly fit a Costco pack of paper towels or toilet paper. Bought many during covid- still using that stash!

We just moved our entire household, in a UHAUL truck, full of Costco black and yellow totes, from Humboldt to Idaho. We had zero weed in those totes. Some dumb fuck thought otherwise and gunned us down in a senseseless, obnoxious drive-by shooting.

So, yes, those “black totes with yellow lids” can be used for things other than weed.

I mean it literally. Over 10 gun shots to the front of the UHaul, including one to a hand. It happened November 4th in Loleta.

Funny thing is there is thousands of vehicles driving through the road construction section south of Willits speeding lately. I know because I do it daily. But the cops only seem to pull over things that can be carrying large amounts.
I can be going 95mph on my motorcycle & they don’t even glance at me. Totally serious.

Me thinks the genius stoners driving the weed had lost their ounce scale (and their patience ) and now were legit heading for the Ridgewood Scales to drive the trailer onto the scales and weigh it all at once!?

John Gotti once said if the cops accused you of robbing a church and you got a steeple sticking out your ass, you deny it! For those of you out there that don’t know this information I will educate you today. 70% of law enforcement does not keep their radar guns calibrated up-to-date. I can tell you this much, and the times that I have been accused of speeding by law enforcement I reply to the officer if you can provide me with an up-to-date certification showing me that your radar gun has been calibrated up-to-date I will be more than happy to take that ticket and sign it today. And just about every time the officer replies I don’t want to write you a ticket. Live and learn ?✌️

It doesn’t really matter when you’re hauling a trailer load of weed.
One crime at a time you’ll be just fine.

A license is merely another tax…

Take care not to break more than one law at a time…

300 pounds must be worth at least a few bucks, so drive in the right lane, go the speed limit, fly sober and make sure to signal…

The CHP stops cars at random, this time of year, to “sniff” the interior…

I wonder how much there was to begin with…
