CHP Focused on Tackling Distracted Driving Epidemic

Press release from the CHP:

its not worth it texting and driving graphicEvery year, thousands of people are seriously injured or killed statewide in vehicle crashes caused by distracted drivers – crashes that are 100% preventable.  To address the problem, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is launching a statewide “Distracted Driving Education and Enforcement for Adult Drivers” traffic safety campaign, boosted by a $350,000 federal grant.

The yearlong education and enforcement initiative continues through Sept. 30, 2024.  Throughout the year, the CHP will conduct at least 90 enforcement operations targeting adult distracted drivers.  In parallel with a CHP program targeted at teen drivers, the adult distracted driving campaign also includes 300 adult traffic safety presentations statewide.

“The CHP encourages drivers to make the conscious decision to drive distraction free every time they get behind the wheel of a vehicle,” said CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee.  “Every distraction, even for just a few seconds, increases your chances of being involved in a crash.  Ultimately, it is never worth the potentially devastating consequences.”

With multiple modes of communication and instant entertainment, cell phone use is the biggest driver distraction.  Between 2019 and 2021, there were a total of 6,343 fatal and injury crashes within CHP jurisdiction stemming from distracted driving.  During those same years, CHP officers issued more than 200,000 citations to drivers violating California’s handsfree law.

Some of the most common types of adult distracted driving includes texting, talking on a cell phone, eating, grooming, operating a navigation system, and adjusting the radio.

Public education and increased enforcement are designed to encourage drivers to recognize the dangers of distracted driving and reduce the number of people impacted by this reckless, preventable behavior.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The mission of the CHP is to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security.

I see it too, and you are right. It’s about half of all drivers, then about 20 percent are on some sort of drug . Only leaving a quarter of all cars on the road driving rationally.

Also needed:

Bust some speeders! Especially on the 101 between Oregon and Mexico…

California drivers apparently feel that it is OK to drive 90 whenever they want…

My Mother said she always drove 90, but that was 50 years ago…

It’s a crowded world, and tail-gate drivers won’t get there any faster…

Please don’t endanger everyone else on the road…

Park your huge pickup and buy a Prius…

DRIVE SAFELY PLEASE!

Thank you!

The brain damage is from the vaccines.

It’s becomes worse with multiple doses.

Biden’s mental deterioration is a perfect example.

Sadly I suspect you probably believe that is true. From where I sit you sound like another sad puppet getting your strings pulled by villains you are incapable of recognizing.

What a lovely and succinct way to put what I feel when I read comments, mainly from 5-7 daily repeaters. And the ability to triple down on it is even sadder. I read one lady absolutely exasperated say, she believes the more education people have translates to the dumber they become referring to COVID and vaccines.

Tragically, I suspect that you are yet another that believes such a thing could not possibly be true as a side effect of any multiple of doses of the COVID Vaccine.

I witnessed it among friends with my own eyes.

Biden was probably not a good candidate for the covid vaccines, because of his co- morbidities.

As to the rest, if that is supposed to mean that I initially got a two dose primary COVID vaccination series because I was snookered into believing it would protect new and old family members, then yes, you are correct, my strings got pulled, by villains that I didn’t recognize as such, at the time.

Next time Biden addresses the nation, check it out. Suckers almost 90 , average life expectancy 77. Crack me up, he’s got reflexes like a lizard in subzero weather.

Are you saying he is too old to be president?

Yes, but the younger crowd has already figured this out. The 18 – 29 group will flex their voting power in the next election. As usual alotta feelers will be hurt, California may not be blue for too many more years, everything changes. Out with the old in with the new, crack me up.

Trump is 77 and had multiple doses of the vax. Disqualified?

Oh, and Biden is 80 not 90.

Joe Biden will be 81 on November 20, 2023. If you are comparing him to a 50 year old, then yes, almost 90.

So you also agree that Trump is too old to be president. Trump is about three and a half years younger than Biden. If Trump is elected in 2024, he will actually be older than Biden was, by about five months, when he was elected.

Just Google “cerebro-vascular risk of COVID vaccination”, and you will get plenty of hits.

Here is just one of them…

https://eurjmedres.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40001-023-00992-0

‘A review of neurological side effects of COVID-19 vaccination’

“Following the COVID-19 virus epidemic, extensive, coordinated international research has led to the rapid development of effective vaccines. Although vaccines are now considered the best way to achieve collective safety and control mortality, due to the critical situation, these vaccines have been issued the emergency use licenses and some of their potential subsequence side effects have been overlooked. At the same time, there are many reports of side effects after getting a COVID-19 vaccine. According to these reports, vaccination can have an adverse event, especially on nervous system. The most important and common complications are cerebrovascular disorders including cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, transient ischemic attack, intracerebral hemorrhage, ischemic stroke, and demyelinating disorders including transverse myelitis, first manifestation of MS, and neuromyelitis optica. These effects are often acute and transient, but they can be severe and even fatal in a few cases. Herein, we have provided a comprehensive review of documents reporting neurological side effects of COVID-19 vaccines in international databases from 2020 to 2022 and discussed neurological disorders possibly caused by vaccination.”

The BMC advertises as publishing “high quality research” LOL. I’m sure if they were really publishing “high quality research” they wouldn’t need to say they are.

I see your point, Frank…

…but…

IF what you are saying is true, Frank…

Frankly, the FDA and the CDC have advertised the COVID Vaccines as “safe and effective” LOL. I’m equally sure that if the COVID Vaccines were really “safe and effective” they wouldn’t need to say that they were.

Maybe you missed that part…???

Then you might be surprised to read that starting last fall, the IRS spent about 9 months chasing me for a bogus $40-odd penalty. Between the resources spent by them, the Taxpayer Advocate, and the staff of the member of Congress that stood up to them on my behalf, I’d guess 40x-50x the original amount was pissed away. Like people, government can get worked up over the smallest amounts.

What happened to carefree driving? I remember driving in the 60s and 70s when driving was enjoyable. It seems like the “open road” has disappeared. Now it seems like a major chore to drive.

I know we can’t ban children in the car, but, HUGE distraction.

What ever happened to banning unleashed dogs in the driver’s lap?

Can’t count all the times I’ve been lane changed while on a motorcycle by either, parents contorting themselves to scold their kids, or, a driver with a dog blocking their left side mirror and field of view.

Why do they need a grant to enforce these laws? Isn’t this part of the job?
