[Update] Jack-Knifed Big Rig Closes Hwy 299

Travelers on Highway 299 in the area of Buckhorn Summit are experiencing delays due to a jack-knifed big rig that has resulted in a closure of the main roadway from Redding to Eureka.
At 10:12 a.m. the CHP Traffic Incident Information page stated a big rig was jack-knifed across all lanes of traffic. Caltrans put a road closure in place while awaiting a tow for the disabled rig.
The QuickMap shows the closure just east of the Buckhorn Summit and states, “SR 299 is blocked, approximately 22 miles west of Redding, at Buckhorn Summit (Shasta County). Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.”
At 11:15 a.m., the CHP page relayed that the roadway should be “clear here soon”, though no official estimated time of reopening of Hwy 299 has been reported.
Please avoid the area if possible.
Update: The CHP Traffic Incident Information page reports the roadway is now open.

On a good note, apparently the driver was not injured and did not tangle with any vehicles coming the other way.
